4 Sisters Were Photographed Over The Course Of 40 Years

Photographer Nicholas Nixon started the project that would span almost the entirety of his career on a whim. While visiting his wife’s family one summer he took a snapshot of her and her three sisters. Then the following year he took another, young women lined up in the same order, staring directly into the camera and he decided that he would repeat the process for forty years. The result is a look at how time changes people, but also of how similar we can stay even after several decades. The women are lovely and fearless, even at the end. The series is currently available for viewing at the Museum of Modern Art. Here are a few of the amazing photographs.
