2016 Was the Best Year Yet for ‘Investing’ in a Birkin Bag
Twerkin’ for a Birkin?
It’s not the worst thing you could do. You already probs knew that certain designer bags are amazing investments. And we’re not talking an investment piece for your wardrobe, we’re talking an investment for your bank account.
But above all other bags, a Birkin came out on top for 2016.
“2016 has seen the Hermès Birkin handbag continue its 35-year trend of increasing in demand and value,” according to PRweb.
Basically, the Birkin isn’t going away anytime soon.
2016 saw a 16% increase in Birkin sales, and Hermès rolled out two new bags that broke their previous record for most expensive bag ever sold: a 35 Braise Shiny Porosus Crocodile Birkin sold for $298,000 in April, and a 30 Himalayan Niloticus Crocodile Birkin sold for $300,168 in June. Super casual.
If for some reason you have a casual hundred thousand hanging around and want to make an investment, Baghunter has stated that the 30 Himalayan Crocodile Birkin was the most valuable version of the iconic bag this year.
But if you can’t imagine ever having that money, let alone spending it on a bag, you can just sing alone to Remy Ma’s hook in “All The Way Up” that mentions her Himalayan Birkin and pretend you’re bad and bougie.
Or you know, convince your parents that you’re looking to get into investing this Christmas. Whatevs.
