The 12 Best Holiday Movies & Shows to Watch on Hulu
While I love ice skating and holiday-themed baked goods just like anyone else, my favorite thing about the holiday season has to be the holiday specials.
Once upon a time, we were at the mercy of the television gods, but with the multitude of streaming services, the ball is totally in our court now.
If you need help picking some holiday specials this December, have no fear. Here are the 12 best available on Hulu:
1. The Age of Adaline
This movie combines the pressure of meeting a significant other’s family during the holidays, the inability to commit, and a fantasy plot that’ll keep you at the edge of your seat.
2. Bridget Jones’s Diary
This modern-day adaptation of Pride and Prejudice is a holiday romance that starts with an ugly Christmas sweater on New Year’s Eve. If you haven’t already seen Bridget Jones’s Diary, you’re missing out.
3. Dear Santa
A thirty-year old woman still relying on her family’s wealth is told she’ll be cut off by Christmas if she doesn’t get her life together. She does the only logical thing: attempts to marry into someone else’s family.
4. Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Christmas Amnesia
For anyone (like me) who was a fan of Sabrina the Teenage Witch back in the day, we’re used to Sabrina’s shenanigans ruining absolutely everything. In this episode, she manages to ruin Christmas.
5. Holiday Engagement
Despite obvious drawbacks in falling for someone you have employed, a woman develops feelings for the out-of-work actor she hires to be her fake boyfriend during the holidays.
6. March of the Wooden Soldiers
I watch this every holiday season without fail. This is an actual holiday classic and Hulu has it in full color. This is especially the best thing if you’ll be nursing a Christmas morning hangover and miss seeing it live after the Yule Log.
7. The Mindy Project, Josh and Mindy’s Christmas Party (season 1, episode 9)
Because I identify with every single aspect of Mindy Lahiri’s life, I have to recommend this iconic Christmas episode. Mindy throws a Christmas party with her boyfriend only for it to get crashed by his other girlfriend.
8. My Santa
This movie stars Samaire Amstrong, who has been my favorite ever since The O.C. She plays a single mother who has lost the Christmas spirit ever since her husband walked out on the family one Christmas Eve. Girl, I would be struggling to have Christmas spirit too.
9. Scrooge
Another holiday classic. If you’re suffering from the Bah Humbugs yourself, this movie will 100% remind you what the holidays are all about.
10. A Snowglobe Christmas
Not to be confused with another movie starring Christina Milian and featuring a snowglobe.
11. Christmas Belle
Hillary Duff’s sister, Haylie, stars in this movie about a woman juggling two men for the holidays. Two men have never fought over me so I love seeing it play out on TV.
12. Family Guy, Road to the North Pole (Season 9, Episode 7)
Stewie vows to kill Santa and Brian accompanies him (obviously). One of the best Family Guy episodes ever and therefore an absolute must for Christmas.
