FEATURE INTERVIEW:
Love Zombie sounds like a playful exploration of love’s quirks. How would you describe the song’s mood in three words?
I would describe it as dark, sexy & playful.
What personal experience sparked the concept of Love Zombie?
Well, I wrote the song when I was 17. I actually remember I came up with the title in another session & one of the guys wasn’t down to write it. And I remember thinking, what?! This is such a fun idea. I’ll just take it somewhere else. So I did.
I can’t remember if it was based on personal experience but I just loved the title and I felt there was a fun story to tell there. It felt unique and something I wanted to explore about being so in love you’re so overwhelmed with the emotion and it’s all you’re thinking about.
You’ve balanced acting and music for years. If Love Zombie had a short film companion, who would be your dream leading man — and why?
What a great question! Hmmm… that’s a tough one. Maybe Jacob Elordi? He’s a good looking dude & I think he’d fit well in this world especially after being cast as Frankenstein.
How has your Puerto Rican heritage influenced your artistry, style, and stage presence? Could we ever get a reggaetón collab in the future?
Well I recently wrote a song with a little bit of Spanish in it & I can’t wait to release that one. But I mean, I think my Puerto Rican heritage gifted me with my rhythm and a lot of my passion. As far as a reggaeton collab, never say never! I love Latin music so much! It just makes you want to move and shake your hips & it’s good for the soul.
Bad Bunny is playing the Super Bowl as a boricua — what song are you most excited to see him perform?
So exciting! Probably “Tití Me Preguntó“. That song gets stuck in my head so easily. Always so proud seeing a Boricua on stage. I’ll never forget when J lo and Shakira performed at the Super Bowl. I felt sooo proud to be a Puerto Rican woman. That performance was everything for so many reasons.
Being Latina, what are your current thoughts on ICE and the state of the Hispanic community in the U.S. at the moment?
I feel what’s happening right now is heartbreaking. I have so much empathy for our Latin community and the families who have been separated or facing fear of separation from their families/loved ones because of our immigration policies. No one should have to live in fear just because they wanted a better life.
What advice would you give 17-year-old Victoria?
Never give up! Keep following your passions and surround yourself with really good people. La familia is everything! There will be some rocky times ahead but stay true to yourself and keep learning and growing.

Who are your heroes in music?
I’d have to say Raye, Julia Michaels, Sara Barielles and Sasha Sloan come to my mind right away. I love an honest, vulnerable singer songwriter. All these ladies embody that, their vocals are on point and the lyricism cuts deep. I feel their pain, sadness, relatability and their joy because the writing’s so good!
Victorious introduced you to a generation as a Gen Z musical icon. Looking back, which episode had the biggest impact on you and helped shape you into the dynamic artist you are today?
Hmmm… I think in general doing that whole show shaped me into who I am today. It also shaped me into the songwriter I am today. I wrote 3 songs for Victorious, Best Friend’s Brother, Make it In America & Faster Than Boys. I absolutely loved being in the studio with producers and other songwriters.
I was only sixteen when I started writing with some of the best in the industry and I was just a sponge, soaking up everything. It was like taking a master class in songwriting and learning and I just fell in love with the process. I also was so nervous in the beginning but after one writing session I learned I had a natural affinity for songwriting. It just poured out of me and I was like “wow, I love this!”.
I definitely think the episode where I got to sing “Make it In America” was important to me. I knew they were looking for a really special song for that episode & I was actually wanting to hold onto that song for my own solo project. But Dan heard it and really wanted it for the show. I think it’s a very high compliment when a song that I conceived is one they had chosen for such a big episode so I was very flattered and excited about that!
Where do you see your character Tori from Victorious now, in the real world, after leaving Hollywood Arts?
I think maybe her life is a bit similar to mine. I think she pursued the singing career with the big label etc. but ultimately I think she ended up going indie. And I think she also started writing for a lot of big artists. That’s what I see for her. And I think she’s bi coastal and has a place in LA & NY. I think she’s happy.
With Autumn in full effect, what’s your current beauty routine — any products you’re really loving right now?
I don’t really have a crazy beauty routine. I do love the Belif products and have been using them for years. I’m a moisture junkie and I love their moisturizing bomb and they have these eye products that I’m obsessed with, the aqua bomb eye gel is definitely a staple for me. I’ve also recently started using a lip liner and I really like the MAC Cosmetics Cork shade for Fall/Winter.
Back to Love Zombie — what lyric in this song hits home for you?
“Nothing can bring me back to life, if it’s not your body next to me”. I love how this plays into the love obsession/ but also the zombie aspect of things.
You tease us with music a lot! When can we expect a full album or EP, and what direction are you taking musically?
My goal was always to write an album but since I’ve been on the journey of a truly independent artist I’ve learned so much about how things work for the artist without a label. I’ve been with a label so I know how that works and now I know this side of the business and it’s a lot harder. First of all it’s a lot of work, because all you have is yourself to promote your music.
I wish I could say it’s a level playing field but it’s not.
On the flip side, you are your own boss and can do whatever you want for cover art, art direction, wardrobe, song selection to release, when you want to put it out, etc. With all that being said, I’m now waiting til I hit certain metrics because I want to give my music the best chance of people getting to listen to it. Right now, is not the right time… I’m still in the building stage but I do have quite a bit of music ready. I’ve been toying with the idea of releasing a special project 1st, we’ll see…
Horror season is upon us with Halloween — what can you tell us about your upcoming movie Send a Scare?
I can tell you that it takes place in the venture capital world. I can tell you that our director and our cast are completely amazing and incredibly talented. I can tell you that I love my character of Callie and I love her character arc. And I can tell you that I think it’s going to be a really freaky thrilling ride and I’m very excited about it for people to see it.
What’s next for you as we close out 2025, and what are your hopes for 2026?
Let’s see, what’s next… maybe more music? Maybe a little more travel? And for 2026 I wish for great experiences, more travel, filming another movie or 2 that I’m drawn to and of course releasing more music. I hope to continue to grow and thrive creatively and personally & I hope all my loved ones are happy and healthy!
