COLOMBIAN SINGER VALÉ LATIN ROOTS INSPIRE ALL HER LYRICS
Hailing from Barranquilla, Colombia, music has always been a natural calling to Vale for as long as she can remember. Her love for her culture and home country has inspired so many beautiful songs that are appreciated by her fans worldwide. We chatted with her to learn more about her Latin culture and what she has coming for the remainder of 2024.

TALK TO US ABOUT HOW COLOMBIA HAS INSPIRED YOUR MUSIC.
Being from Colombia has inspired me to dig into deeper lyrical themes! Some latin music has such beautiful lyrics, especially older music that is native to my hometown Barranquilla, such as Vallenato. Colombia has also inspired my music sonically! I have been able to incorporate certain instruments and sonic elements in a cool way that modernizes these sounds!
WHO ARE YOUR SHEROES?
My mom! Always my mom, the bravest and kindest woman I have ever met.
HOW IS YOUR MUSICAL CREATIVITY DISRUPTING THE LATIN X MUSIC LANDSCAPE?
My music blends the vibrant soul of traditional Latin sounds with the catchy hooks of classic pop. Collaborating with the super-talented producers from Los Angeles, The Fund, we create something truly unique. They take my inspirations and infuse them with their own LA flair, giving my music a fresh and exciting twist on Latin music. It’s not just reggaeton or what you typically think of as “Latin”—it’s something entirely new and different!
WHAT LYRICS FROM YOUR NEW SINGLE HIT CLOSEST TO HOME?
Lyrics from my song “siempre seras mi corazón” which makes part of my debut EP “under the sun” hit close to home every time. This song is about missing a place or a person before you’ve even left them. At the time, I was feeling homesick while still being in Barranquilla. This is something that I feel often, I miss things even before I leave them – so I wanted to write a song about that in case anyone felt this way as well.
HOW WAS IT OPENING FOR DRIVER ERA?
It was such a blessing! My first tour was a lovely experience honestly, I couldn’t have asked for a better crew to have toured with. The Driver Era are all so incredibly sweet and supportive, their fans were so welcoming and amazing to me, it was all the most positive experience ever and I am forever grateful for it.
WHAT IS YOUR BEAUTY ROUTINE ON THE ROAD?
I tried to stick to my normal skin care routine as much as I could on the road. It’s difficult to be able to stick to any routine while on the road since everything is irregular all the time! I was able to figure out a cute and easy makeup look night one of the tour, and I just stuck to that the entire time!
WHAT IS YOUR SONGWRITING PROCESS?
I have many songwriting processes! Sometimes, I love coming into the studio with only sonic inspirations, then we all work from there. Other times, I come in with a lyrical concept, sometimes the producers come with a beat idea .. There are no rules to this game!
ANY DREAM COLLABORATIONS?
ROSALÍA always, SZA as well!! They are my favorite artists. I would be over the moon if I could collaborate with them. I also would love to collaborate with 070 Shake!
WHAT IS NEXT FOR YOU ON YOUR MUSICAL JOURNEY?
My debut EP is coming out now! I am so excited for everyone to hear it and experience my musical development. More shows are on the way as well…. I am gearing up towards a lot of truly exciting things!
