FEATURE INTERVIEW:
2024 was a year of many milestones in your career, such as the release of the album “Direto da Selva“, the performance at Rock in Rio and a deluxe version of your latest project with major collaborations. What can your fans expect next year?
This year was full of releases, in which I brought a very creative approach, saying everything I wanted to in my two albums. I was also very happy to be able to sing at Rock in Rio. Next year, I plan to release heavier and more strategic singles, as always, exploring other genres, with collaborations outside of trap and concept songs, to reach new audiences, further consolidate my career and challenge myself as an artist.
Your art is highly visual. Is investing in music videos, even at a time when audiences are consuming more short videos on social media or just audios on streaming platforms, a strategic choice with the longevity of your work in mind?
Yes, I invest in music videos because I’m not just thinking about numbers, but about my career, my history, my artistic showcase. I know that in 10 years’ time they’ll want to know what TZ’s story is like, what his career is like, and music videos are a way of adding a lot to that.
You started out in rhyme battles. When did you realize that music would be your path?
When I wrote my first song, I realized I had a talent for it. I soon stopped rhyming in battles and concentrated entirely on making music. I evolved more and more and got here.
Many artists dream of awards. Are there any you’d like to win? Is this validation important?I’d love to win a Grammy for my art. That validation is important for me, for myself, you know? Not to show others, but to show myself that I’m capable and that I’m working hard for it.
How did it feel to be chosen as the first Brazilian rap artist to be part of the VEVO DSCVR: Artists to Watch program?
I was very happy with the invitation and to know that I’m on an international radar, among so many artists from the country. It makes me feel that I’m on the right track and I’m grateful for this opportunity.
We know that music is your passion, but are there other passions that people don’t know about?
Yes, I have other passions, boxing and fashion. Boxing is where I find my moment of peace, overcome my limits and improve my discipline more and more. And fashion is where I can express myself through my clothes and encourage everyone who comes from where I come from not to be afraid of “judgments”.
