Donald Trump Gives Tiffany $500 a Month Because Ivanka Says So
It’s no secret that Tiffany Trump isn’t Donald Trump’s favorite child — he made her sit with the Bill Clinton rape accusers instead of with the rest of his family during the debates — but I’ve always assumed he did all the normal rich parent things with her like buy her ponies, yell at people on the phone while she ate her birthday cake, and write her blank checks for an allowance.
But I was wrong.
In a story published today by Vanity Fair, I learned that for most of her childhood, Tiffany Trump didn’t have an allowance, and the only reason she ever got one was because of Ivanka Trump.
In Ivanka’s first book, “The Trump Card: Playing to Win in Work and Life,” she recalls the time her 15-year-old half-sister Tiffany asked her for some advice about how to ask their dad for money.
“All she wanted, really, was a way to enjoy some of the privileges her friends got to enjoy,” Ivanka wrote, “in the same way she would have enjoyed them if she’d lived under our father’s roof” instead of across the country in California with a woman Trump didn’t want anything to do with.
Although Tiffany had worked out her own strategy, since she was 15 and probably didn’t know her father that well, Ivanka thought it would be best to handle it herself.
“I didn’t tell her, of course,” Ivanka wrote, “but I went to our father and suggested he think about surprising Tiffany with a credit card for Christmas, with a small monthly allowance on it. Sure enough, he did just that. Tiffany was thrilled and relieved. And so appreciative.”
And according to one of Tiffany’s friends, that “small monthly allowance” was just $500 and not a penny more, which granted, is a lot of money for a teen. Unless you’re dirty sticking rich, in which case, it’s just yet another sign that your father is playing favorites.
Don’t worry, Tiff.
We all think your father’s an asshole too.
