T Swift Is Hanging With Gwyneth to Solidify Her ‘Hate-able White Girl’ Brand
Why do we love to hate stars like Gwyneth Paltrow and Anne Hathaway?
We say it’s because they try too hard to be perfect, they’re smug, they’re rich, blah blah blah. The truth is probably closer to a v self-absorbed mix of jealousy and class anxiety, but either way, people freakin’ hate them.
Taylor Swift, on the other hand, used to be a beloved white girl thanks to her catchy songs and “who, me?” demeanor. But she’s tragically inching closer to the Gwyneth and Anne school of white girls: the ones we love to hate.
And it’s because the insane amounts of of both effort and deceit that got her to where she is were exposed by Kim Kardashian (who, by the way, has made considerably more effort than Taylor but was always honest about the hustle so that made it okay).
Anyway, people are pissed at Taylor now. And it looks like instead of fleeing from the hate, Taylor Swift might be looking to incorporate her newfound hate-ability into her personal brand. How do we know? Well, she was spotted “partying” with Gwyneth Paltrow last night!
They were at the Malibu birthday party of Liberty Ross, a model whose husband cheated on her with Kristen Stewart a few years ago. From Us Weekly:
“Gwyneth Paltrow was dancing with Taylor Swift and hanging out with her a lot … They seemed like good friends. Taylor was in an amazing mood and very social.”
Now, Taylor stans might be screeching, “Taylor, nooooo!” at this news. Because a union with Gwyneth will only make Taylor more hate-able, right?
I mean, yeah, that’s absolutely right. People hate Gwyneth, inexplicably, even more than they hate Chris Brown, who actually physically harmed someone.
But does Gwyneth care that people hate her? Do the faceless, skinny randos buying her insane products care? Does her bank account care? The answer is no, no, and no.
And it’s because one of the biggest things people get wrong about celebrities is that, like the popular kids in high school, it doesn’t matter whether people like you. It matters if people are talking about you. Gwyneth knows that — it’s why she continues naming her kids after fruit and encouraging people to drop $1500 on a golden dildo (yes, that happened!).
So Taylor, if you want to continue raking in cash hand over foot despite the fact that no one seems to “like” you, take a cue from Gwyneth and stop giving a shit. It doesn’t freaking matter.
