FEATURE INTERVIEW:

Your newest album “Fall In Love With Her” comes 2 years after your previous project “Archives & Lullabies”. Sonically, in your opinion what is the biggest difference between the two projects?

Sonically, I’m in two different places. In the two years between these projects, I’ve been writing for other artists, which has given me inspiration for my own album. For the most part, my music is coming from a different perspective than my own with one or two personal songs that share a little bit of what I’ve gone through during that time. With this album, I’m connected more because I’ve been through more. I’d like to say this album is a visual album as well, and that will become more clearer very soon…

My best friend also was a big influence for this album, because no matter what I’m going through in relationships, I can always count on her being there for me. My overall support system has helped me through many chapters in my life so I figured it’s time to put that in the music.

Where did the inspiration from this project stem from and where did you primarily record this album?

I record primarily in LA in various producers in home studios. I should start recording in other locations but it’s always easier for me to go to their homes while in LA.

“Before Its Too Late” is such a romantic song paired with an aesthetically pleasing music video. How hands on are you with creating the concept for your visuals?

I’m hands on from start to finish. From the concept, to locations all the way down to the editing process. It is difficult for me to do it all on my own so I hire the right people who can help bring my vision to life for every video.

Walk us through your ideal studio session.

I can have no more than 3 people max! I definitely can’t record at home, I have to be in a studio. I really treat recording like a 9-5 job. I’m recording from 1-7pm and I try to not get too distracted during that time and focus on getting my work done, because I’m not the type to work on music outside of my studio time. I would say some good snacks too but I’m working on slowing down on those!

You recently released the visual to “Memory Foam” that is absolutely beautiful. Talk to us about the message behind the video and song itself.

The message I really wanted to portray in this video is that no matter how much I go through in relationships, I want to be able to pick myself up and not become hardened by the situation. As long as I am breathing I want to love and be loved. I also just released a cute mini BTS vlog that shows some of the leg work of bringing my vision to life for this song.

Which song from your new album is your current favorite and what does it mean to you?

It changes based on my mood but right now I’d have to say “Detoxing“. It has rock elements to it and as I’m doing my press run I’m starting to perform songs live and this one really feels good to perform. I can’t wait to perform more very soon!

Do you consider yourself a hopeless romantic? If so, how do you keep going despite the ups and downs that come with romantic relationships?

I think I’m a lover girl. My parents have been together since they were in high school, so has my brother and his wife. When I think of my life years from now, I want to have a life partner by my side and to not be alone. So the hope of that one day happening is what keeps me going.

You’re going on tour this summer with Russ & Big Sean hitting 16 cities. Which city are you most excited to perform at?

The very first stop in Denver at Red Rocks is what I’m most excited for. I’ve met Russ and look forward to meeting Big Sean and performing at the biggest venues I’ve ever done so far. I’m going to start rehearsals soon and finalize the set list and of course there will be some oldies that I’ll perform but I’m really looking forward to the new songs. And connecting with my supporters all over the country.

If you could only take 3 items with you on tour, what would they be?

Whew, I’d say a lip liner, lip gloss, I’m loving the Fenty clear gloss right now and a good curly hair product to keep my curls moisturized!

Walk us through your ideal self-care day.

Anything involving my girls. Going thrifting or to a farmers market, getting brunch, a cute coffee or matcha date and spending time with my family.

You can always be seen rocking detailed corset body suits or outfits drenched in lace. Talk to us about your fashion style and some of your favorite brands.

I’m not big on brands but I love anything sexy. A good corset always snatches me in, and when I can barely breathe, I know I’ve achieved the look I’m going for!

As your supporters start streaming your new album, “Fall In Love With Her” what is one thing you hope they take from this project?

I want them to get to know me more. This project is me opening myself up to the world in a way I never have before. Along with my YouTube channel and social media, I’m getting comfortable with sharing more of myself with my audience and I hope this album allows them to feel more connected to me on a personal level.
