Rihanna read Diplo to filth & he’s telling the world about it

Rihanna has many gifts and reading Diplo’s musical output is one of them.

In a cover story with GQ Style, Diplo was asked about how he goes about getting a song to Rihanna and he responded by telling two stories which illustrated how getting the song to Rihanna is the easy part. Getting her to say anything nice about it is the hard part.

And by hard we mean Rihanna has a prescription, and let’s just say it’s not for more Diplo.

“I played her “Lean On,” Diplo said. “She was like, I don’t do house music. I face-palmed so hard on that one.”

And not to be deterred, he tried again:

“Another time I had a session with her, and Future was also invited. The Weeknd was there. Metro Boomin was there before anybody knew who he was. I was so contact high. Future played her, like, 700 songs. It was four in the morning. Finally, I was like, Yo, G, I’m leaving unless you let me play her a song. So I played her a song. And she was like, This sounds like a reggae song at an airport. [laughs] I was like, I’m gonna go kill myself.”

A reggae song at an airport?

Riri, you golden, glittering goddess!

Then again, when you’re the kind of guy who answers the question, “How would you characterize what you bring to a studio session?” with “I’m not good at anything specifically,” can you really blame Rihanna for not wanting to be associated with you?
