PREMIERE: American Idol’s JAX Is “Kicking and Screaming”
Some people think that once you’ve made it onto TV, you’re basically set — but that’s not always true. Take American Idol Season 14 Alum JAX, who was sidelined after she appeared on the show and found out this past year she had thyroid cancer.
With dreams of working on her songwriting, Jax had to put her health first and take time away. Jax says, “When you’re 20 years old, you have this Superman entitlement mentality and sometimes all it takes is God telling you it’s time to take a break for you to understand that you are most certainly not.”
Luckily, after treatment, she’s back literally “Kickin’ and Screamin’’ with her second single, letting nothing stop her. Influenced by other artists like Joan Jett, Alanis Morrisette, and Pat Benetar, Jax says, “Every single experience impacts my writing and every song is a part of my journey.” She adds, “I loved being in the studio for this one…we had just as much of a party as the song sounds. Colin Dieden is such an awesome friend and artist. It’s always a blast recording with him and the crew out in LA.”
The tune is a banger of a dance hit, just waiting to be added to your playlist with its staccato synths and groovy melody. JAX’s rhythmic singing carries some hints of old school hip hop, but the hook of the tune is classic pop at it’s finest — and is no doubt super easy to sing along with.
Check the tune out below, and give JAX a follow on the socials.
