Playboy Just Featured a Woman in a Hijab For The First Time Ever
Playboy has made some serious changes over the past year.
First, they decided to stop publishing full nudes in their print issue and online (they now only publish nudes on Playboy Plus, a separate entity). Now, they’re featuring a woman who wears a hijab for the first time ever.
The woman is named Noor Tagouri, and she’s a news anchor for Newsy. She was featured in Playboy‘s October issue in a feature about people who are “breaking the rules.”
So how is Noor Tagouri breaking the rules exactly? Well, she’s on track to become America’s first hijab-wearing news anchor. This is not only impressive, but it’s especially impressive amidst all the racism that Muslims have been facing in recent months due to some BS spewed out by Donald Trump.
And for the haters who tell her to “go back home” in addition to the angry (likely white male) commenters on the Playboy article? Well first off, Noor was born in West Virginia, so nice try. Secondly, she doesn’t pay attention to internet trolls or haters.
“I don’t read or pay attention to any of it,” Noor said to Playboy. “It’s just negative energy and unhealthy. I make sure to keep a great circle of people around me who keep me grounded…Besides that, I just do the best I can to not worry about people who get upset because they don’t like something that I wear or say.”
Although some of Playboy’s typical customers seem to be kinda pissed about this, likely because women being modest on their own accord isn’t cool with them, we commend Playboy for daring to be different and making serious strides.
As for Noor, we can’t wait to see how her career continues to grow, and how many angry white dudes she pisses off along the way.
