Our Favorite Off the Runway NYFW F/W ’23 Looks
Fashion Week comes with all the fun, drama, rhinestones, textures, color palettes, and of course exclusivity. I remember being in high school showing up to NYFW venues hoping to get in. “You have to be invited,” a black British woman once told me. The only style I was rocking then was my school uniform and my North Face book bag. This season I get to be on nearly every guest list for the NYFW shows and it’s truly a full circle moment. It’s fun to experience the magic, to sit in silence and watch in awe as designers come together with models, make up artists, hair stylists etc.
We all know New York City to be a fashion capital and a major hub for creatives of all disciplines. New York City crafted my style, it taught me you can actually just wear what makes you feel your best. You gotta wear the clothes, you have to feel comfortable in the clothes you rock. The more I studied people’s creativity the more inspired I got to also get behind the lens. And luckily for me, New York is the kind of city where it’s normal to stop people on the street and they break into a mini second photoshoot. New Yorkers are crafted to be ready at any moment.
The streets are not exclusive and will not be telling you “You have to be invited,” because you have the freedom to tell the streets “I am here, I am bold in my own way.” From some of your favorite celebs and influencers to New York City natives, the looks have been served.
That is why Fashion Week in NYC is our favorite. New York City energy is unique. The creativity of folks speaks for itself.
