How to Master a Perfectly Chill No-Makeup Makeup Look
It’s been hotter than the deepest depths of hell for quite some time now. With August just around the corner, and temps nearing 100 degrees, it’s safe to say that nobody wants to walk around with cake face, no matter how beat it may be.
For moments spent looking summertime fine while poolside, or popping open a fresh bottle of rose at your bestie’s party, it’s important to look your best. “Rooftop season” is all about effortlessly slaying sun-kissed skin, and maintaining a glow dewier than a piece of your grandmother’s homemade pound cake. We’re talking moist.
During the summer, less is more — and that definitely goes for your makeup. We’re huge fans of the no-makeup-makeup look, which requires minimal product for maximum impact. Beauty vlogger and resident “bare-faced” expert Avielle Amor has broken down how to achieve the look of the season in 6 easy steps. Who needs Snapchat filters when you can practically bare it all?
Start with a fresh, cleansed face.
Tame the brows. I get my eyebrows microbladed at Dr. Gerstman’s office in NYC, so I no longer have to fill them in. However, I always brush my eyebrows to shape them, which helps create a more polished look.
Using your hands in a circular motion, apply a lightweight tinted moisturizer that lasts all day and doesn’t look “cakey” — especially during hotter months.
I love using illuminators. To brighten the face, apply illuminator to cheekbones, tip of the nose, cupid’s bow, and inner corners of the eyes to look more awake. The product helps bring out the natural contours of the face without having to apply bronzer.
Apply mascara to add a little length to lashes, and make eyes appear more open.
Finally, top the look off with a neutral color moisturizing lip balm. The tint adds the perfect flush of color to your pout without looking overdone.
