Madison Beer has a backstory that could only be possible today. But get to know her and it’s clear that her charisma, talent, and beauty would have placed her squarely in the limelight in any era.
In case you haven’t heard her social media Cinderella story: Madison was posting cover songs on YouTube when one of her videos caught Justin Bieber’s attention. He shared the clip with his fans and Madison quickly blew up. At just 16, she now has a record deal and millions of fans of her own to her name.
And she’s got the talent to back it up. She maybe not be a household name yet, but Madison is now recording music of her own and planning to release an EP that’s sure to put her on the map — that is, beyond her 4-million-and-counting Instagram followers.
Like many social media stars, her road to success has had some speed bumps in the form of anonymous online haters — but take one look at Madison’s fan-heavy Twitter feed and you’ll see she gets plenty of love letters and inspiring tweets to make up for all the trolls. It’s crazy to think that today’s budding pop stars have to deal with a naysaying public before their first album even comes out, but Madison has taken it in stride.
After shooting Madison on a sunny day in LA, we caught up with her for some girl talk about music, makeup, and more.
What’s some of the best advice you were given when you were just starting out?
To just focus on what you love, work hard, and have faith.
What projects are you working on at the moment?
I’ve been in the studio with a ton of different producers working on a hopeful EP for this year.
What’s the perfect song to start a party?
Anything Rihanna.
What would you NEVER post to Instagram?
I try to never say never but I guess I’d never post anything negative. I’m a positive person.
What’s your favorite Kanye song of all time?
Ugh, so many! “Jesus Walks,” “Black Skinhead,” “Gold Digger,” “American Girl,” “Homecoming”… Probably Nori’s song. Was pretty obsessed, he’s a genius.

What is something that always makes you angry?
Seeing people suffer, family disowning their children over sexuality, homelessness.
What makeup or beauty products are you in love with right now?
Highlighter, highlighter & highlighter.
What’s your favorite drugstore product?
Love face cream and makeup wipes.
How do you keep your hair so healthy?
I try not to blow it that often. I think heat kills it!
What nail polish color would you be and why?
Maybe a light beige natural color because I’ve been on a no-makeup kick and I like to stay neutral in my personality.
If you had to wear one outfit for the entire year, what would it be?
Jeans and a cropped T.

Mine 😉
