LELE PONS PUTS FAMILY AT THE CORE OF EVERYTHING
Have you ever used comedy as a coping mechanism to get through difficult times in your life? If so, you can definitely relate to our cover star LeLe Pons. Starting off making funny videos on Vine, LeLe has become a multimedia powerhouse at only 27 years old, and she’s just getting started. We sat down to discuss her Venezuelan culture, the importance of family to her and much more!
FEATURE INTERVIEW:
How is your creativity disrupting the culture of social media?
A lot of people just hop on whatever is trending. True creativity is coming up with something new that can’t be copied.
How has married life been and what things do you love most about your partner Guaynaa?
Married life is the same but with added commitments. There’s more of a focus on family – his and mine. We’ve calmed down and matured a lot. We don’t stay out as late anymore and it’s so nice to hang out at home just the two of us. My favorite thing about Guaynaa is how proud he is of me when I succeed.
Being Venezuelan what do you feel is your most Latina trait /mood?
My passion for sure.
Your wedding was so iconic how was it preparing for that and what was your fave moment looking back?
Planning the wedding was so stressful! We did it so fast, it was crazy. My favorite moment looking back was definitely my first dance with Guaynaa. Watching the video of it makes me cry every time!
How was dancing with the stars as well as training for it?
Dancing with the Stars was my favorite thing I’ve ever done in my whole career. Training was so much fun that it made me forget how hard I was working out. It helped that I had such a great partner too. And it taught me a ton of discipline. It completely changed my body too.
You and Brazilian queen Anitta are besties, what is some advice she has given you that has really stuck?
She teaches me self-love every day.
Being a blonde is hard work how do you keep your hair so gorgeous what products do you swear by?
Olaplex helps a ton!
What beauty products do you love?
I love the James Charles palettes!
What is your beauty philosophy?
Don’t wear so much makeup that you’re gonna catfish someone.
What does being Latina mean to you?
To me it’s all about family. In Latin families you don’t just turn 18 and go out into the world by yourself. Your family is always there for you and a part of everything you do.
Your sense of humor is insane! We’ve been following since Vine! How do you feel you have grown comedically?
My videos used to be cut and edited, now I focus on one-takers.
Where did this sense of humor come from? Is anyone in your family a jokester?
Not really, I think it started as a coping mechanism. When I’m anxious, I use comedy to cope.
How are you pushing boundaries for Latinas?
By speaking out about mental health.
Who is your dream musical collaboration?
Daddy Yankee!
What is your favorite Venezuelan meal?
Cachapas!
Tell us about your recent trip to Iceland. What are some of the things that you did?
The blue lagoon was amazing. Then we spent a day with Mr. Iceland, and he showed us so much cool stuff like this Viking dinner, it was awesome. Oh, and of course, the Northern Lights, duh.
What is your favorite travel destination?
So far, I think Iceland!
You’ve worked with beauty brands like Morphe as an influencer, what other brands would you like to collab with one day?
Huda Beauty would be so cool to work with. I love their colors.
Leave us with a secret.
Oh my god… I had a Shakira fan page when I was little!
What’s next for Lele Pons
Hopefully motherhood!
