Instagram Is Launching Another Feature Nobody Asked For

Have you ever noticed that every social media platform is slowly morphing into all the others?

First Instagram launched a stories feature, which is exactly like Snapchat. And now, they’re mimicking Facebook (which was probably copying Snapchat originally) by launching Instagram Live.

Instagram Live is essentially exactly like Facebook Live, which makes sense, since Facebook owns Instagram.

The CEO of Instagram, Kevin Systrom spoke about the feature’s launch with the Financial Times, and said some weird ass explanation, reported by Mashable:

“Live is really exciting for us. I think it can enhance what we’re doing. If I’m trying to strengthen relationships with someone I love, then streaming video to me live would be an amazing way to be closer to them.”

Uh, yeah sure Kev, I guess. Or you could just hang out with them IRL? Or Facetime them? Or do anything that’s more personal than an Instagram Live video?

Technology is making us weird af, for real.

Regardless, now you’ll have the “pleasure” of having your Instagram friends in real time, eating brunch, taking selfies, hitting the club where everything is dark AF. You know, normal shit that people do on social media that you only pretend to care about.

There’s been no officially date given for when the launch will happen, but I’m sure you’ll be able to sleep tonight without knowing. In the mean time, make sure to live stream you turning up with a red cup in hand this weekend. Otherwise people might not think you’re cool!
