FEATURE INTERVIEW:

What was it like growing up in NYC?

I’m actually from Staten Island lol it’s so funny cause everyone always forgets about us. I love where I’m from, it’s where I was born and raised. I love the friends I made, and I love how quiet it is apart from the other boroughs lol. I will say though I never really turn up on Staten Island. My turn up spots are definitely in the city lol I’m low key a city girl.

How has your relationship with your uncle RZA influenced your music career?

My uncle has given me so many opportunities to grow and learn my art. The first song I ever recorded was with him, it was called “Student of love” lol and the second song we did ended up on the soundtrack to a movie called “Afro Samurai”. The song was called “Brothers Keeper”. I appreciate my uncle so much. Besides the music he and my uncle Divine have been taking care of me and my family for as long as I can remember.  I owe them so much like literally my life.

From your social media you can tell that you are very confident in yourself and most importantly comfortable in your skin. Talk to us about your self love journey and what you’ve learned over the years about yourself.

Honestly this all just started happening and very organically. There was something I had to let go of, something I had to say and get off my chest for me to love and accept me the way I’m supposed to.

I had to speak my truth and tell my story and if that meant running to the internet then so be it. Especially because I have never been the type. I don’t go subbing people online and I don’t tell too much of my business online, so when that moment came it felt like such a beautiful release like I needed to just say what was on my mind to this one-person whether they hear me or not.

But to be honest, I’m still growing and learning more about myself. We change every day, every year so I think I’ll always be learning more about life as long as I’m living.

In 2021 you released your first project “Destiny” which features 7 R & B songs. For anyone who’s never heard this project, what’s the first song you’re playing for them and why?

Ugh, I’m not a fan of this project at all! I was living in a shelter when I was offered the opportunity by Dean at Don’t Sleep Records to release this project. My mind, body and soul was not in the right space.

I felt like I was stuck and like I wasn’t growing because of the situation I was in … I mean how could I while living in a shelter for 11 months uncomfortably. But basically, I just put old songs together and made it into a project. But if I had to choose my favorites it would be Destiny, Rapture, and Round.

I have grown so much since then and when everyone hears this new project, you’ll understand exactly what I’m talking about. What I’m giving now moving forward is authentically me, it’s real and you’re gonna love it!

This summer you released your newest single “Boots”, talk to us about the inspiration for this song and the process of creating it.

Boots” was so easy! I was actually out of the shelter at this point, so my energy was so different. I felt so free! I was able scream and sing loud and belt notes in my house without interruptions or anyone telling me to shut up.

The lyrics came out so organically like a conversation with my friends. I’ve never written in this kind of way before because I was trying to be for everybody, but I realize I’m not for everybody and that’s ok.

The inspiration definitely came from the ballroom culture. I love Vogue and ballroom so much, it’s a part of me and even though I’m not the best at it it’s who I am and it’s what made me free.

There’s a whole community that understands me and shares similar stories so “Boots” was created for us to release and feel our oats and just dance.

When it comes to your visuals, how hands-on are you in the process of creating the story line?

I’m very hands on when it comes to visuals, but my best friends Jazzelle AKA (uglyworldwide ) and Robot Moon Juice have been my visual Gods and to be honest we’re just getting started. I can’t wait to start doing choreo and really give girls what they need.

When can we expect a new project and how will it differ from your 2021 project?

A new project will be coming very soon! It’s so different from my last project because this time I’M READY. I feel so in control of who I am and what I’m doing that I’m just like let’s fucking go! I know this project is gonna go crazy. I have done nothing but elevate and to be honest there’s a lot more to tell but that’ll have to wait for the album to drop.

Who would be your dream music collaboration?

I LOVE NICKI MINAJ LOL! But that probably won’t ever happen so I would say Doja Cat and Doechii. But honestly, I wanna be in a house with Kaytranada , Kanye West, MikeQ and Kevin Prodigy doing nothing but creating and making music. I’m telling you that album would be crazy if we were all in a room together, that’s my real dream collab.

With you having such a busy schedule, what is your dating life like?

Baby I need to be more busy! I am not busy enough lol. And as for my dating life  chile, I’ve been single my whole life. Never even been on a date. Don’t get me wrong though I had my little pieces here and there lmao but never anything serious.

Walk us through a dream date night.

I’m such a simple dimple lol like I don’t ask for much. Like let’s just do dinner or a movie and I’ll be fine. I do love vacations so maybe that could be a thing. Idk … I think I would have to actually have my first real date to know how I would want it to be moving forward.

What’s your current beauty routine?

Facials once a month, facial cleanser every morning and night, face massages, night serums and lots of water!

When you look ahead, what would you like your life to look and feel like?

I wanna show that even though I am who I am I can still WIN just like everyone else. But most of all I see myself just taking care of my family. Especially my niece/daughter. Literally everything I’m doing is for her.

I became much more fearless when she was born because it’s more than me that I’m fighting for. I love my family, and I feel that we deserve so much that we should’ve already had but I just have to wait and be patient. I know my time is coming and when it does, I’m promise I’m storming!
