Gigi Hadid just called someone a “f**king moron” for bashing hijabis on Twitter
Gigi Hadid just totally destroyed an islamophobic woman on Twitter today by calling her a “f**king moron.”
In the past, Gigi hasn’t really talked about political issues or heavy topics like islamophobia, so this is a pretty big deal.
It started when the woman, Laura Loomer, tweeted a photo of two women in hijabs crossing a city street. People has called Loomer a right-wing activist. Her Twitter bio says she’s an investigative journalist and she’s got a blue verified check.
“Muslims are out in full force at the scene of the NYC #ISIS attack today rubbing it in everyone’s face,” she said in one tweet. “Aimlessly walking around in hijabs.”
Loomer was referring to the Tuesday incident in which a man rammed a truck into a bike lane in downtown New York City, killing eight people. He told authorities he did it in the name of ISIS.
This has absolutely nothing to do with two women wearing hijabs, no matter where they are wearing them. But clearly, Loomer didn’t understand that.

“You’d think they’d have the decency to not walk around in hijabs @ cross street of the attack,” she said in a second tweet. “But they don’t. I bet they’re loving this.”

It’s unclear exactly what they were “rubbing in everyone’s face” by “aimlessly walking around in hijabs.” But Gigi was not having it.
She quoted Loomer’s tweet and added,

Gigi hasn’t publicly spoken about her religious affiliation, but her sister Bella Hadid describes herself as Muslim. The sisters’ father is Muslim and Gigi’s boyfriend, Zayn Malik, was also raised Muslim.
Gigi’s religion is pretty irrelevant here, though, because you don’t have to be a practicing Muslim to understand why Laura Loomer’s tweets were idiotic. What’s important here is that Gigi took a stand against islamophobia and could inspire her many fans to do the same.
