Galore Weekly round-up: Four new releases you shouldn’t miss
No music lover’s weekend is complete without cool new things to check out with all that (hopefully) free time. So what are you after right now? Something socially conscious and uplifting? How about emotionally-charged synth pop? Whatever you feel like, we’re sure that these 4 releases will radically enhance your Friday-to-Sunday experience! Check ‘em out:
Molly Moore – American Girl
Collaborating with the talented Larzz Principato (known for his work with Dua Lipa and Halsey) and Allie Crystal (who has worked with Rosa Linn, JAX, and LØLØ), Molly Moore just dropped ‘American Girl’, a rock-infused pop banger and the fourth single from her highly-anticipated second album coming this next April. This track was crafted during a pivotal moment in history—the overturning of Roe v. Wade—and offers us Molly’s acerbic take on bodily autonomy and women’s reproductive rights.
WHIPPED CREAM – Careline EP
One of the Wildest and most intense DJ/producers right now. WHIPPED CREAM has an insane momentum right now, and with the help of her own alter-ego, she’s releasing a killer 6-track-EP to get us all excited for her return to the touring and festival circuit.
The EP embodies a thrilling exploration of sound and emotion, reflecting her artistic evolution and experimentation. The project seamlessly blends cinematic influences with energetic beats, creating an immersive and intense experience that captures the essence of nightlife, celebrating the euphoric highs of club culture while maintaining a playful and groovy spirit. Throughout the EP, themes of empowerment and connection shine through.
Close To Monday – Come Undone
European synth-pop duo Close to Monday had a fantastic 2024. A steady stream of releases solidified their creative output while their US tour exposed their brilliance to new audiences.
It’s great to have them back, and with the gratifying surprise of their very own rendition of Duran Duran’s Iconic “Come Undone”, heralding their upcoming EP, “World Turtles”. The Cover comes after Ann, the duo’s vocalist and songwriter re-discovered a childhood video of herself dancing to the original.
Duran Duran’s “Come Undone” dives into the messy side of love and the feelings that come with it. It captures the struggle between wanting someone and the anxiety that comes with uncertainty in a relationship. CTM’s version keeps the spirit of the original, only with Ann’s vocals giving a much more wistful and innocent vibe, reflecting the context behind the cover’s origin
NYIKO – Be Alone
Last but not least, it’s the amazing return of NYIKO after a 3-year hiatus. His flexible synth-pop sound is set to the service of a new song which captures the melancholic and vulnerable essence of Morrisey or Arcade fire with NYIKO’s sophisticated sound.
“Be Alone” isn’t about what you may think, it’s in fact about basking in the cool presence of your significant other without doing much of anything, just contemplating the sublime and the subtle things that truly intimate companionship brings on a deeply mental and spiritual level. Truly a brilliant song.
