From Mikvah to Malibu: How Liv Shine Turned Her Orthodox Roots into a Beauty Empire
After an arranged marriage at 17, Liv Shine built a beauty salon, escaped
religious constraints, and now inspires millions with her fearless fashion and real talk.
Liv Shine didn’t follow the traditional path—she redefined it. Born into a Russian-Persian ultra-Orthodox family in Israel, Liv entered an arranged marriage at just 17. A year later while pregnant with her daughter, she opened her own beauty salon catering to religious women preparing for the mikvah. “It was the only space we had to feel beautiful on our terms,” Liv recalls.
But Liv’s true transformation began when she questioned the life she was handed. After moving to the U.S. with her husband, a former rabbi and disabled partner, Liv stepped away from religion, changed her name, and launched herself into a bold new world of beauty, fashion, and entrepreneurship.
Now based in Malibu, she shares tutorials, tips, and stories with raw honesty, building a community of women navigating their own reinvention. “I want women to know it’s okay to question everything, start over, and still shine,” she says. Even after losing her home in the recent Palisades fire, Liv remains undaunted: “We lost everything, but not our light.”
