Exclusive: Kate Yeager Shares “One Last Look” Single and Video!

Watch “One last look” HERE

Today, Nashville-based singer-songwriter Kate Yeager is sharing her sophomore EP Before The Lights Go Out. Alongside her viral body-positivity anthem “Fat” and the stirring single of self-acceptance, “Edit,” Yeager is delivering 4 more stunning new songs.

The EP closer is “One Last Look”, and is also the first song Yeager wrote for this project. She says, “When we move, we pack up everything into boxes and label them neatly and head to the next place. I realized that we can’t change what’s in the boxes, the space might change, the location might change, but the contents of the boxes won’t. Just like the nooks and crannies of my brain. I can’t change them, but I can learn how to use them better. Each song on this project is a box I’ve packed. Ones I’ve labeled, ones I’ve learned, and the ones I am carrying with me. So let’s take one last look before the lights go out.”

Kate Yeager’s EP Before the Lights Go Out is out today via ONErpm, and she will be touring throughout the year in support of the release.

Kate Yeager quickly went viral online with her single “Fat,” racking up over 30 million views on IG + TikTok to date, and received praise from celebrities around the world such as Julianne Moore, Carnie Wilson, Kristen Chenoweth, Jane Weidlin (Gogo’s) and Sara Bareilles, who all voiced their support for Kate’s music and message. She premiered the official single alongside a music video via PAPER Magazine. Now, she’s also shared the acoustic version of the single “Fat (Naked Version)”, also with a music video.

Teaming up with Grammy-nominated producer Jared Anderson, Kate’s EP Before the Lights Go Out explores themes of vulnerability, love, and self-discovery. Kate reflects on her collection of songs, “I am in my vulnerable era – there isn’t a lot of holding back. My music is crushingly blunt and unguarded.” The 2023 single “Fat” – about her lifelong struggle with being comfortable in her body – caught fire online, as a performance clip of the tune rapidly racked up over 15 million views on social media. The viral track inspired fans to share their own stories and garnered praise from fans and celebrities around the world.

Kate will be hitting the road this summer for a handful of U.S. tour dates. Find tickets and more information HERE.

FEATURED INTERVIEW:

“One Last Look” is the first song you wrote for this project. What was the initial inspiration for this track, and how did it set the tone for the rest of the EP?

The initial inspiration for this track was me leaving New York City. I moved to NY when I was 18 for school and I lived there for 7 and a half years. It gave me so much and I wanted to write it as a love song for all the things I learned living and growing into myself there. I didn’t initially know what I was going to do with the song, but looking at all the songs that followed it. I was like this song is the backbone of the EP.

You mentioned packing boxes and labeling them as a metaphor. Did this concept influence the overall structure of the EP?

Listen, my brain is incredibly chaotic. There is a lot going on up there. I had such a hard time when I was moving to Nashville packing the boxes and labeling them correctly in an efficient manner. HOWEVER, for this EP I just knew that the song that needed to be last had to be “One Last Look.” If each song is a box, we get to look at it one more time before we turn off the lights and move to the next place with our things.

How do you hope listeners will connect with and interpret the songs from Before The Lights Go Out?

I just hope they can see themselves in it. Everyone has different stories and different experiences that make them unique. The semantics are different, but the feelings are the same. I just hope this record makes everyone feel a little less alone, like my favorite records did for me.
