Everything We Know About SZA’s New Album CTRL So Far

Here’s the good news: SZA’s new album is coming out sometime this year.

The bad news is we still don’t know when. But here’s everything we know so far.

We all have been patiently waiting for new SZA since the release of her EP “Z” in 2014. Since then she’s been a guest feature on Rihanna’s “Consideration”, Isaiah Rashad “Stuck in the mud”, and Kendrick Lamar’s “Untitled 04 | 08.14.2014”.

SZA went on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last week and performed her new brown grunge single “Drew Barrymore.” That’s when she announced the new album.

But let’s backtrack to October 2016, when SZA’s future seemed unclear. SZA was close to throwing in the towel because of her frustration with Top Dawg Entertainment’s co-president Terrence “Punch” Henderson and his refusal to release her debut album.

SZA tweeted out then deleted, “I actually quit. @iamstillpunch can release my album if he ever feels like it. Y’all be blessed.” Punch indirectly replied to SZA with a laughing Heath Ledger as the joker picture captioned “Lol”.

But now, it looks like they’ve buried the hatchet since SZA says new her new album is definitely coming out.

Her new album is expected to feature “twoAM” which is her own spin on Partynextdoor and Drake’s “Come see me,” as well as her new single “Drew Barrymore,” and maybe the songs she previewed at her show in NYC. One of those was “Love Galore,” featuring Kanye West’s prodigy Travis Scott.

Fingers crossed that she announces her album release date soon!
