Elisa Johnson Is the World’s Most Famous Fashion Student

You might be familiar with her older brother EJ Johnson, arguably the most fashion-forward star from E!’s “The Rich Kids of Beverly Hills.” But did you know EJ has an equally as stylish sister, and the two have a spinoff show on E! called “EJNYC”?

Well, if not, meet Elisa Johnson.

The 21-year-old studies at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in NYC, and it’s very obvious that style definitely runs in the Johnson fam. Proof enough can be found on Elisa’s Instagram, which has over 220k followers.

Read on for our interview with Elisa and an exclusive shoot styled by Scot Louie and shot by Joey Falsetta.

Nice to meet you Elisa! Can you describe yourself in 3 words?

I would describe myself as goofy, passionate, and sometimes flirty.

Now that you have been in the spotlight more, especially with Instagram and other social media, have you felt any pressure to change yourself for the fame?

I’d be lying if I said that social media isn’t pressuring to myself or anyone, I think what shows good character is what you do with that pressure, do you give in, or do you just do you. I like to think I’m always just doing me.

You’re still going to FIT, right? What is it like trying to balance school and all that is going on with “EJNYC”?

I’m on my summer break from FIT right now, but it was a little tough juggling both filming EJNYC and maintaining an average that I could go to sleep with. My grades and my work in school is really important to me.

What are you studying in fashion and what are your career goals?

I’m currently studying Fashion Merchandising Management and I’m still figuring out what will be next for me post graduating, I’m interested in so many different facets of fashion it’s hard to choose. I’m interested and passionate in so many things. But I do know my main goal is to always be a smart and decisive businesswoman which I’ve learned from my mom.

Who are some of your favorite designers?

My favorite designers right now are LaQuan Smith, Alexander Wang, Demna at Balenciaga and Vetements.

A lot of people say that the NYC dating scene is terrible, do you find that to be true?

All my friends make fun of me because somehow some way I always have a man. So no, I don’t find it difficult to date in NYC.

What are some of your must-have fashion staples?

My fashion staples are my Balenciaga boots, vintage tees and leathers, and I never leave the house without a good pair of sunglasses.

If you could swap closets with any celeb, who would it be?

My homegirl Kylie said on her app that she would want to swap closets with me. I think we’d have a dope day so for sure. Love her.

Do you prefer the East Coast or the West Coast, and why?

I prefer the West Coast because I have my car and I can take videos and selfies with that Cali lighting. However I can’t live without the East Coast, here is where I became an adult but also had my worst hangovers.

What does the rest of your summer look like, any fun plans?

I am going to Barcelona in a few weeks for the rest of the summer, with my best friend Maya, and I can’t wait to have plenty of Instagram and Snap moments.
