FEATURE INTERVIEW:

How has your Dominican and Puerto Rican heritage influenced your approach to acting?

It’s been monumental! Pulse is the first role where my character authentically reflects my life. She’s Dominican and shares a big family background like mine. There’s a scene where I speak to my mom in Spanish just as I do in real life. It feels empowering to embrace my culture openly.

Growing up in The Bronx and moving to Montgomery, how did your surroundings shape your identity and passion for acting?

My ambition was like a fire without direction. My mom was my driving force, taking me to auditions in the city. The struggle to succeed in New York pushed me to focus on school and sports, but eventually, I found my way back to my passion in college!

Who are your fashion inspirations, and how do you incorporate your Latin roots into your style?

My style is my voice! Right now, I’m channeling 90s icons like Salma Hayek and Lisa Bonet, blending sexy femininity with sleek masculinity. Plus, I love embracing my natural hair; it’s an accessory in itself!

What are some your top beauty tips for red carpet events?

Before any big event, I always indulge in a face mask—self-care is key! And a silk pillowcase? I can’t live without it. It keeps my skin fresh and my hair fabulous!

What did your preparation look like for your role as a scrappy EMT in “Pulse”?

I started from scratch! I connected with a paramedic, soaked in knowledge, and took an EMT crash course. Rehearsing those movements was crucial to make it all feel second nature when we began filming.

How have sports influenced your life outside of the acting world?

Sports were my constant childhood companion! From softball to cheerleading, I was always active. Nowadays, I’m into weight training—it keeps me strong and focused!

What advice do you have for young actors, especially from diverse backgrounds?

Create your own opportunities! Write, shoot, and showcase your work. The more you develop your unique voice, the more you’ll stand out. Own who you are!

How do you balance your personal life with the demands of your acting career?

I’m constantly flying—my skymiles are insane! I try to make it home every two weeks to be with my kids. Though challenging, they motivate me to be present when I am with them.

How do you prepare mentally and emotionally for intense roles in shows like “American Horror Story”?

I dive deep into character work before I step onto the set. Once filming starts, I immerse myself fully, drawing on trigger words to get into character. Acting alongside legends like Kathy Bates was intimidating but rewarding!

What does it mean for you to portray characters from diverse backgrounds?

Growing up, I rarely saw girls who looked like me on screen. I’m thrilled that today’s kids have more representation. It’s incredible to be a part of that change and make an impact.

Can you share a personal experience that contributed to your growth?

Motherhood has transformed me. My kids have taught me resilience and perspective. The ups and downs of the industry don’t affect me as much because being there for them is what truly matters.

Looking ahead, what personal dreams do you hope to achieve?

I’m working on several scripts and dream of becoming a multi-hyphenate—writer, producer, director, and actress. Aligning my career with my values and background is my ultimate goal!
