FEATURE INTERVIEW:

Born in Azerbaijan and raised in Russia, how have your cultural backgrounds influenced your music and artistic expression?
At least I can empathize with all immigrants.

In what ways do you incorporate elements of your Middle Eastern and Russian roots into your lyrics and performances?
On stage I sometimes perform mezdeke or arabesque belly dance. Since I speak all languages kind of poorly, I’m constantly jumping between words. One word finishes the next. Like a puzzle.

Can you describe the journey that led you to pursue a career in music? Were there any pivotal moments that defined your path?
I was in the right place at the right time. Destiny… nothing was ever forced. Everything developed on its own. I just stayed in the flow.

How do you balance maintaining your authenticity while also reaching a wider audience in the music industry?
The music I listen to is already popular music. A young, free-minded, confident person naturally draws attention. I don’t do anything extra besides working on myself.

Your style is often noted for its boldness. How important is fashion to your identity as an artist, and how does it reflect in your music?
It’s very important. In half of my songs, I talk about my image anyway. How I look is really important to me. Everything I wear reflects my mood. Even when I’m writing a song, I love dressing up like crazy. For example, I could dress like I’m going to a funeral and write a song but then I’d make it into a death march.

Who are some of your fashion icons or inspirations?
Erykah Badu. Kanye West. Melania Trump.

Who or what has been your biggest inspiration in the music industry, and how has that influence shaped your work?
Musically, Nicki Minaj. She can deliver both in male and female vibes. I really like that. It’s empowering. And also Beyoncé. They gave me the courage to start doing my thing.

What do you hope to achieve in the next few years in your music career, and how do you envision your evolution as an artist?
Right now, I’m going through a really difficult period because of my abusive Turkish manager. I can’t release any music at the moment. After I get all my rights back from him I’m planning to release an album, so stay tuned.

What does a typical day look like for you, from the moment you wake up to when you go to sleep? How do you maintain balance in your life amidst your busy career, especially when it comes to self-care?
I wake up. My boyfriend brings me coffee in bed. Long espresso with cold milk. Then I go downstairs, have a small breakfast, and go to the gym. After the gym, I come back home, roll myself a joint, and start making music. Then I either go get my nails done or get a massage. After that, I go out to buy whatever I’m cooking for dinner, prepare it, then eat. And then I go to bed. That’s it.

What quote that resonates with you deeply?
Wake up, flawless.
