ALEXIS REN IS READY TO TAKE ON HOLLYWOOD IN NEW SCI-FI ROLE
You may know Alexis Ren from her content in beauty and lifestyle but she’s preparing to take Hollywood by storm in a new sci-fi film, “Lionsgate’s Latency”. We sat down with Alexis to learn more about her new role, some of her summer tips & tricks along with much more!
FEATURE INTERVIEW:
What are your summer plans?
Get out into nature as much as possible, continue my journey in learning how to surf, and of course, have an Aperol spritz in Europe.
Who are your SHEROES?
My god sister Allie, my mother, and all my other girlfriends. They teach me what love is.
What is your beauty philosophy?
Health is beautiful. As long as I’m listening to my body and giving it what it needs – I feel beautiful.
What advice would you give your 17-year-old self?
If you believe it’s all divine, it will be. Trust your power.
You recently starred in Lionsgate’s Latency – talk to us about the film and that experience.
The story centers on Hana (played by Sasha Luss), a professional gamer suffering from acute agoraphobia. Hana is given advanced gaming equipment that uses AI to interpret her brain’s electrical activity. As Hana and her best friend Jen (who I play) experiment with this technology, the boundaries between reality and Hana’s subconscious start to blur, leading her to question whether the device is aiding her or exerting control over her.
The movie explores themes of technology, mental health, and the merging of virtual and real worlds.
I had an extremely positive experience on set. James Croke, who directed and wrote the script, was an incredible director. His vision really came to life. I loved playing Jen, and I love how relevant the story is in our lives today. We must be very conscious of technology’s role in our lives.
How did you prepare for your role?
In this role, Jen’s personality closely mirrors my own, both as an individual and as a friend. I was fortunate to infuse my personal perspectives into her character. It was incredibly rewarding to pour all of myself into bringing Jen to life.
What are your top 5 summer travel destinations?
Italy, Hawaii, Spain, St. Barths, Jamaica
What are your thoughts on AI; would you ever make an Ai version of yourself?
With my current understanding of the field, I don’t feel comfortable creating an AI version of myself. However, as the landscape continues to evolve, I’m open to learning and growing alongside it. I believe in holding strong beliefs loosely, allowing me to adapt and make informed decisions based on the latest discoveries. We live in a remarkably exciting time where advancements in AI occur daily, presenting new opportunities and challenges. I look forward to staying informed and evolving with this dynamic field.
What advice would you give to that Gen Alpha creative who wants to reach your level of success?
Having a clear and compelling “why” behind your actions and voice is incredibly powerful. Do you aim to inspire others? Connect with people on a deeper level? Offer assistance or promote healing? Understanding the purpose behind your voice is essential because, without a clear “why,” it doesn’t matter how many people hear you—your message won’t resonate meaningfully. In a world saturated with noise, having strong and intentional motivations sets you apart from those who seek exposure merely for the sake of visibility.
In today’s fast-paced and information-rich society, people are constantly bombarded with messages from all directions. This makes it even more crucial to have a well-defined purpose. When your intentions are clear and purposeful, your message cuts through the noise and reaches the hearts and minds of your audience. It’s not just about being heard; it’s about making a lasting impact.
What is one brand you have not collaborated with that you would love to?
Mirror Palais would be such a fun brand to create with as I deeply resonate with their romantic aesthetic.
What beauty product is always in your bag?
Hydrating facial spray. I’ve noticed I break out when my skin gets dry (pores getting clogged) I spray my face every hour.
What is your song for summer?
“You’re so fucking money” by Hippie Sabotage
Last show you binged watch?
Dark matter: Blake Crouch. HIGHLY recommend it if you’re a science nerd like me.
