Alexander Wang x H&M and Past H&M Collabs

The much buzzed about Alexander Wang- H&M collaboration is set to launch later this year and rumors as to the details of the collection are already starting to surface. The brand’s twitter revealed a spoiler of one of the products which will be sold as part of the capsule collaboration, the item being a keychain featuring a pair of boxing gloves. Not much of a spoiler (is it a boxing themed collection? A sportswear line??), but it certainly has renewed our interest. While we wait for more information about the collaboration, here are some of our favorite designer partnerships that have graced H&M in the past.

1. Versace x H&M: Starring Australian model Abbey Lee Kershaw in its ads, this is one of the collections that put the Swedish retail store on the map. The 2011 collection featured flamboyantly printed mini dresses and brightly colored leggings in all manner of asymetrical cuts and classic patterns.

2. Lanvin x H&M: The Lanvin collaboration was one of the few that kept some of its couture elegance. At prices possible for us mere mortals, the line was a study in girlish cocktail dresses and ruffles in animal print and rose patterns.

3. Lagerfield x H&M: The line that sold out within hours of hitting store in Europe and the US! After the unprecedented success of the line, Lagerfield claimed he would never work with the high street retailer again due to their “snobbery” at only producing a limited number of items in the line, which included simple black cocktail dresses and tuxedo style pants and graphic t-shirts featuring a silhouette of the designer’s face. photo 1 (1)

4. Isabel Marant x H&M: The most recent H&M collaboration was a study in female French fashion. The effortlessly chic line included leather pants in reds and blacks and simple tweed jackets which were popular among celebrities such as Emma Watson and January Jones. As a fashionista favorite himself, we are sure that the Alexander Wang collection will have no shortage of female fans when he is finally released in stores!
