Alexa Chung Hates Coachella And Chokers More Than You Do
Model and British Vogue contributing editor Alexa Chung couldn’t care less about what’s trendy right now. She likes what she likes, and she doesn’t like Coachella or chokers.
In fact, she thinks that both are dead.
In an interview with Fashionista, after asking Alexa a few polite questions about her new fashion app Villoid, they started asking her about what we all really want to know: whether Coachella is dead.
When asked whether or not she was staying on the West Coast for the festival, Alexa simply replied, “No, thank you,” before elaborating:
“I think it’s great, I just don’t really feel like it. Last year’s inability to escape the site with any speed — like I waited three hours for a taxi — really just put me off….I don’t want to be told off every five minutes, I do want to drink when I’m watching a band, and I just need something a little bit freer. That said, literally some of the best times of my life have taken place at Coachella.”
It’s worth noting that WWD did exactly the same thing yesterday. Why is Alexa Chung suddenly the poster girl for hating Coachella? We don’t know. But in WWD she put it even more succinctly. “Queuing for a taxi for three hours was like the final nail in the coffin for me.”
And she feels the same exact way about festival fashion, especially chokers.
“Oh my God, the choker is so dead, Alexa told Fashionista. “No, thank you. No, it’s fine. Look, everyone can do whatever they want, but I do think there is a certain thing with trends when they reach a tipping point and that tipping point to me, with the choker, seems to have happened a few months ago. But they look cool, so, get it!”
It’s worth noting that last week Taylor Swift posted a picture on Instagram where she pondered the following question: “I feel like chokers are maybe the new flower crowns?”
Maybe Alexa Chung is on to something.
