Exclusive Interview With Businesswoman and PR Specialist Patricia Torres: “Everything is Possible if You Keep Pushing Forward”
In the fast-paced world of public relations, Patricia Torres has made a name for herself as a Latin powerhouse, shattering barriers and redefining success in the entertainment industry.
From managing media for icons like Snoop Dogg and Peso Pluma to launching her own PR and marketing firm, Unilash Entertainment, Patty has demonstrated a tenacity and discipline that are tested by fire. With that ground already mastered, she decided to blend her entrepreneurial spirit with her love of cooking through her latest project: Patty Pan Dulce.
Patricia’s foray into the culinary world is as bold and vibrant as her career. In collaboration with renowned baker Felipe Barajas, she introduced the Uniconcha, a whimsical take on the beloved Mexican concha, inspired by her affinity for unicorns and all things pink. With Patty Pan Dulce, Patricia sprinkles her signature touch of joy and empowerment into the lives of those who savor her creations.
We had the opportunity to sit down with her, and it quickly became clear that her story is one of struggle, resilience, and triumph. Through her work in public relations and now her ventures in the culinary arts, she continues to honor her Latin roots while inspiring others to embrace their heritage and turn their dreams into reality.
We want to know how was your life back in your country.
My life in Costa Rica was wonderful. I had a happy childhood where everything was slow-paced, and I felt safe going out to play. I really feel blessed to have experienced such a nurturing environment during those formative years.
How was that process for you when your family moved to the USA?
Moving to the USA when I was nine was scary for me. I had to learn a new language and make new friends, which was challenging. Leaving family behind was hard, too, but I embraced it and took the challenge as an opportunity to grow.
What were the main obstacles you faced as a young immigrant in the United States?
The main obstacles I faced included learning to speak English properly and getting the right documentation to work. I didn’t want to miss out on any opportunities, so overcoming these challenges was essential for me.
What would you say was the key to overcoming difficulties?
The key to overcoming difficulties was definitely my confidence and determination. I was willing to take risks and push through the tough moments, knowing that challenges are part of the journey.
What inspired you to start your own PR and marketing company, Unilash Entertainment?
I wanted to be my own boss, and I felt confident that I had the knowledge to start my PR firm. I was passionate about helping others grow and gain exposure, and I was definitely up for the challenge of running my own business.
What motivated you to venture into the culinary world with Patty Pan Dulce?
I finally wanted to do something for myself and be different. I had this idea that creating something sweet for people to enjoy would be amazing. I love to stand out and bring something unique to the table.
How has the public received the ‘unicorn concha cookie’ or ‘Uniconcha’?
The Uniconcha has been received very well! People are attracted to its unique colors and flavors. Even though it’s a cookie, it tastes like the traditional Mexican pan dulce, and I absolutely love that connection to my heritage.
Do you think that your Latina heritage has influenced your work and creative projects?
Absolutely! I love my culture, and I carry it with pride. I want people to know that we work hard and have amazing traditions that deserve to be celebrated in my work and creative projects.
How do you balance your work in PR, entertainment, and the culinary industry?
I feel very confident in balancing both my PR work and the culinary industry. My PR skills are invaluable in marketing Patty Pan Dulce, and I have the right tools to ensure that both ventures are successful.
What advice would you give to young women, migrants, and aspiring entrepreneurs?
I would advise them to have a clear vision of what they want to achieve. Once they have that vision, they should make it happen without waiting for the perfect moment. There will be tough times when they might want to give up, but I believe everything is possible if you keep pushing forward.
