Today, Rochester, NY by way of Boston, MA indie-pop band Coral Moons releases their highly anticipated LP, summer of u, via Better Company Records. To celebrate the release, Coral Moons is also dropping the song, “secrets”, their fifth single from summer of u.
“secrets” is a song of dueling frustrations. Lead singer, Carly Kraft, tussles with the inner conflict of wishing she was simpler, easier to explain, and more palatable for the world around her. She yearns for a “secret” that might explain herself to the world. But while she laments over her inner complexities she also expresses an anger at the world for needing her to be “easy” and lovable.
Like many of the tracks on summer of u, “secrets” puts into words the baggage many women have to carry when it comes to identity and self expression. A rock guitar line and catchy pop melody put words to the inner turmoil of a world where women are called to be themselves, but criticized for it at the same time. Its a track listeners can turn in the car on a long ride home from work or after a dead-end conversation with a partner and really feel seen.
“secrets” is the fifth single off of Coral Moon’s, summer of u LP.The project is described as a ‘victory album full of moxie’. It’s an autobiography that walks you through the twists and turns of being a woman in our society. It reflects on self-doubt and self-loathing whilst bringing you through the journey towards self-worth and self-acceptance.
