“Salt Flat Sessions” with LUVK
LUVK is a Black singer-songwriter who has pioneered her own unique fusion of pop/ alternative R&B and Rock & Roll— as if a hybrid of Post Malone, No Doubt, and Saint Jhn. This summer, the classically-trained artist teamed up with Fade To Mind founder Kingdom for “No More Same”.
LUVK has released an unplugged style three-part trilogy titled “SALT FLAT SESSIONS” directed by Eli Pedraza. The visuals take place in the salt flats a few hours outside of Los Angeles, with LUVK and VenessaMichaels performing a reimagined trilogy of her original songs “Dead Wrong”, “Influence”, and “Wildfire” off LUVK’s debut album. Throughout, she is styled wearing pieces designed by her unisex fashion brand F.O.P (For Our People, For Other People)
LUVK takes us through a swing of emotions as she performs and narrates a more vulnerable take of “Dead Wrong”. She travels through the vast depths of the salt flats to a graveyard of mannequins in a breathtaking performance of “Influence” only to realize that she’s battling with cognitive dissonance. The trilogy evolves from day to night, reflecting through a stellar performance of Wildfire. To watch the unplugged trilogy you can do so here.
A quote from LUVK on the creative process behind writing and developing these records and visuals:
“With 2020 coming to an end I thought it was appropriate to give this away in hopes to help reveal and heal those who are battling with uncertainty and insecurities due to the climate of the world and mental health. I wrote these songs during a season of obscurity. And It was tuff to peel back the layers, but It’s important that we embrace these emotions . Because the reality is that even in our darkest hour, these moments are necessary so we can be unveiled and become the best version of ourselves.”
