You know how sometimes you and your best friend will accidentally show up to a party wearing matching outfits and it’s kind of weird, but not that weird because there’s only two of you?
Well, let’s just say that it becomes VERY weird when the same thing happens at the MTV Movie Awards with every celebrity who’s anybody.
Either there was a secret dress code that only the stylists knew about or there was just something in the air that night because literally EVERYBODY was either wearing black or pink outfits. What does it all mean? Keep reading to find out.
Team Black:
Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid
Cara Delevingne
Charlize Theron
Margot Robbie
Lizzy Caplan
Amy Poehler
Daisy Ridley
And last but not least*, Melissa McCarthy
*Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson also wore black but their dresses were pretty boring. The fact that they’re both stars of the Pitch Perfect franchise is probably related.
And then there was
Team Pink:
Ariana Grande
Halsey
Baddie Winkle
Kat Graham
So what can we take away from all this? All of the stars in black are basically already A-listers. All of the stars in pink besides Ariana Grande are, shall we say, still on the way there.
Either Ariana Grande is renouncing her status as A-lister forever to rep a brand of up-and-coming talent, or she knows that the stars of Team Black are on the decline and the only way to be an it-girl of tomorrow is to change up the way people see you.
Or, you know, it could just be a really big coincidence.
