7 Badass Brit Babes on What it Means to Be Fearless

It’s no secret that Galore loves bad bitches – women who support each other and live life on their own terms. Basically, women who are fearless in every respect.

So when we had the opportunity to interview a team of seven of the most fearless and baddest bitches in the industry and share incredible photos of them stripped down to their mos badass skivvies, we couldn’t have been more excited. And we really only had one question: what does it mean to be fearless?

Here’s what they had to say.

Zarah Elizabeth, Fashion Stylist and Creative Director

To be fearless is to believe in yourself and to take risks.

I believe we were all put on this earth for reason and to be fearless is to break the cycle and live the life you want to live – without caring what people think.

I would say the most fearless moment in my life is this shoot.

I am styling how I want to style and creatively directing whatever comes to my mind – without second guessing it. I am finally in touch with my inner creative and it never felt so good.

Phoenix Taylor, Model and Dancer

I’ve always been rather fearless and taken a lot of risks in my life. If you don’t, your path will never alter and you’ll end up plodding along, not knowing what you could have achieved and having the “I wonder if…” thoughts haunt you forever.

A fearless moment was when I decided to set up my business, Beautiful Sins’– putting every bit of faith in myself, the women involved and the vision I had to believe it’ll work. Luckily, the fear paid off.

Li Li, Model and Dancer

There are so many different ways, reasons, and opinions on what being fearless is and how to become fearless, but there’s no right or wrong way – just the way that meets your needs.

Whatever it takes for you to become confident and happy in your skin, your social life and your job – that is fearless.

To me – allowing yourself to be fearless is to simply follow your dream. To take the risk, to have all the faith and to push through the hustle.

Don’t let fear of failure stop you from doing what you love and don’t allow yourself to get comfortable at the halfway point.

Fight the fear and go all the way.

And remember, comfort is the enemy of achievement – never be comfortable, be fearless.

Abbi Rose Crook, Celebrity Makeup Artist

I think what it means to be fearless is to have respect for fear. Fear is important because it makes you face consequences but it also needs to be controlled so that it doesn’t prevent you from taking risks.

I used to let fear control me – especially the fear of what other people thought of me. But I realized that I would never be happy if I allowed this because I could never please everybody.

The mark of my real change was two years ago when I was on a music video shoot in Miami. It was a “circus” themed shoot with flame throwers, contortionists, magicians and knife throwers. They asked for a volunteer to try out what it would be like to have knives thrown at you but under wider measurements.

Normally, I would say “no.” So this time, I said “yes.”

It was incredibly dangerous but I knew I needed to do it. The adrenaline was like nothing I’ve ever felt before and I realised that fear could never control me again.

Shotbyshè a.k.a. Nikki Marie, Photographer and Singer

Being fearless is to know that you have more potential than the boundaries you set for yourself. It’s having the confidence to step outside of your comfort zone and achieve. It’s knowing that you’re more than your aesthetics, more than how much you know, more than how much you have, more than how much you’re paid and more than anybody’s opinion of you.

I constantly remind myself of these things and I purposely put myself in situations that force me out of my comfort zone.

It’s my duty to ensure that my existence on this earth isn’t a waste of time – my mission is to make as much of a positive impact as I can and I’m not going to do that by chilling in my comfort zone.

Nierodha, Videographer and Visual Artist

I think to be fearless is to be in a place where you love yourself enough that you don’t care about other people’s opinions.

We are all fearful of the unknown but to be fearless is not to worry and take it as it comes.

A fearless moment in my life was not choosing a “normal” career path. I have been in situations where I couldn’t pay any bills and had no financial support but the fearlessness in me helped. I challenged my circumstances and now I am at a point where I can charge my own rate and gain income on what I say it will be.

Another fearless scenario was leaving a possessive and controlling partner who I was frightened of. Fearlessness allowed me to step away.

Louisa Day, Hairstylist and Makeup Artist

To me, being fearless isn’t living a life without fear because I don’t think that exists.

Rather, conquering my fears and refusing to let decisions be ruled by my fears – that is fearless. It’s embracing new experiences, recognizing my capabilities and throwing myself out of my comfort zone every day – making me better and stronger.
