10 types of Instagram photos everybody posted in 2012
It’s hard to believe, but back in 2012 nobody was good at Instagram. At least not by today’s standards.
In fact, everybody was bad at Instagram because most of us had only been using Instagram for a few months. A year tops.
Instagram first launched as an iOS-only app back in October 2010. But unless you were a tech nerd, you probably didn’t hear about it until 2011 or 2012, when Instagram released a version of its app for Android phones and launched a limited feature website.
Take a scroll back through the Instragram feed of anybody who’s had an account since the beginning, and you’ll be both horrified and fascinated by how differently we used to share our lives with each other. We were more earnest with less to hide, and our feeds were simultaneously more authentic and incredibly boring to look at.
Everybody was an amateur whose only aesthetic was I don’t know how to take photos.
And when I say everybody, I mean everybody. Back in 2012 it didn’t matter whether you had 50 followers or 50,000, nobody had any idea what they were doing.
Consequently, nobody was really worried about being good at Instagram yet, because it hadn’t yet occurred to people that that Instagram was something you could be good or bad at. Honestly, we were all children and Instagram was a playground.
But times have changed. We’ve evolved and so has the way we use social media.
Still, so long as you haven’t archived the life out of your feed, you could go back and see that everybody who was on Instagram in 2012 was posting these types of photos.
