Willow Smith Was Just Named Chanel’s New Brand Ambassador
Trendsetting 15-year-old Willow Smith was just named Chanel’s newest brand ambassador. The announcement was made at Chanel Fall/Winter 2016 show in Paris today.
Willow has covered numerous and worked as a brand ambassador for Marc Jacobs, so she’s a qualified candidate, but Karl Lagerfeld’s decision is a large departure for the brand. Chanel’s current roster of brand ambassadors is exclusively white, including Lily Rose Depp, Kristen Stewart, Elle Fanning, and Blake Lively.
Willow took to Instagram to show her appreciation for the position, which she describes as a movement towards “expanding perceptions of ‘beauty’.”
“I feel like there is so much creativity going on that I want to inject some of my ideas and some of my energy into the brand,” Willow told Teen Vogue. “I feel like there’s a lot of things that come from youth nowadays that need to be expressed and amplified to the world.”
