FEATURE INTERVIEW:

How did your experience on the show shape your musical journey and
prepare you for the industry?

The show prepared me by pushing me out of my comfort zone. I wanted to perform ballads to showcase my voice, but they kept assigning me high-energy dance songs. Initially, I was frustrated, but I realized I was the only one who could handle them. That experience taught me that my stage presence and energy are best suited for dance music.

What was it like working with a legendary artist like Pitbull? And what did you learn from him?

Pitbull inspires me every day. He shares incredible insights, and I’m always eager to learn from him. Working with him was a dream come true, and now that it’s real, I feel motivated to dream even bigger.

How did you decide to focus on Latin EDM as your primary genre and what drew you to this specific sound?
Growing up in Miami, I was surrounded by EDM and Latin music, but it took years for the industry to embrace my fusion of these genres. Once Pepas broke through, the label finally saw the potential of Latin EDM, and now I’m excited to be part of this evolving genre that allows me to make music in Spanish without limitations.
Can you tell us more about the concept behind your debut album? What inspired the themes and lyrics?

Questions” is a reflection on my 20s—full of self-discovery, doubt, and growth. It’s about becoming the woman I aspired to be and exploring both light and dark experiences along the way. Through these songs, I hope others feel seen and understood.

What does it mean to you to have a track like Bambolé nominated for a Latin Grammy in the first ever Latin EDM category?

It feels surreal. This nomination is a huge milestone for Latin EDM, just like when reggaeton first gained recognition. Artists like De Oro have been paving the way, and I’m proud to be part of this moment as the industry acknowledges our genre.

How do you incorporate your Latin heritage into your music?

I love blending Latin percussion and horns into EDM. The rhythm and passion in Latin beats give the music a unique energy, and it’s amazing to see people worldwide experimenting with Latin sounds.

How do you incorporate your Latin heritage into your lyrics?

I use a 70-30 rule: whether a song is primarily in English or Spanish, I add in phrases from the other language. It keeps my music authentic and represents my Miami upbringing, seamlessly blending Spanglish in a way that feels natural.

Can you share more about the challenges you faced during the period that inspired your album?

My 20s were filled with self-doubt, career questions, and relationships that sometimes distracted me. As an artist, I had to confront who I was and what I stood for. Before presenting my debut album to the world, I needed to be proud of who I’d become.

How did you approach sharing such personal experiences in your music? Was it difficult to be vulnerable?

Being vulnerable was challenging but essential. My most meaningful songs have come from sharing personal experiences. Writing is healing for me, and I hope my stories resonate with others, helping them feel seen.

What message do you hope your fans take away from your album?

It’s okay to be lost, to explore, and to try new things. We only have one life, and the experiences we embrace shape us. I hope my music inspires listeners to keep pursuing their dreams and never lose sight of who they want to be.

So how would you describe your personal style? Are there any specific trends or aesthetics that you’re drawn to?

My style mixes Y2K with futuristic elements, reflecting the “Alice in Wonderland meets the Metaverse” theme of my album. I’m blending Bratz-meets-Barbie vibes with digital aesthetics to capture the surreal journey of self-discovery.

How do you approach styling your stage outfits?

For each era, I choose a color scheme—currently, I’m in a “blue and silver” phase. Comfort is crucial since I love to dance, and I aim to match my look to the theme of my album while giving each performance my all.

How do you think fashion and music are connected?

Fashion is essential to storytelling in music. My futuristic style complements my EDM sound and reinforces my tech-forward image. Both elements work together to build a cohesive artistic vision.

Has your style evolved over time? What influences these changes?

Absolutely. I started with a vintage, pin-up look, but now I’m embracing futuristic, digital elements. This evolution mirrors my growth as an artist and the journey reflected in my music.

What message would you give your past and future self?

Keep going, no matter the obstacles. I’ve committed to music for life, whether it’s my career or my passion. Staying dedicated is a victory, and I’m proud to be living that truth.
