Surfer Girl Malia Ward Shares Her Beach Style Secrets

As the daughter of professional surfer Chris Ward and model Jacqueline Miller, Malia spends most of her time by the ocean. She’s a badass female surfer whose Instagram account serves as an endless source of beach style inspiration.
From the sexiest piece of clothing she owns to her opinions on nudity at the beach, Malia answers some of our favorite #GaloreGirl questions below.
What’s the sexiest piece of clothing you own?
My bikini! Its my work and play ensemble.
What’s the secret to the best Instagram post? Or better yet, the secret to the best OOTD pic?
The secret to the best Instagram post is having the best lighting. I find that when I’m most comfortable and having fun my best photos happen. Also, feeling the healthiest and being in the best mood definitely helps make you feel good when posting an Instagram picture. It’s all about the emotion.
If you had to wear one outfit for the entire year of 2016, what would it be?
If I had to wear an outfit the entire year of 2016, I’d wear one of my favorite Indah rompers! They are stylish and comfy. I feel like I could go out and take naps in them.
Which city has the best shopping?
Brooklyn has some pretty sick vintage treasure hunting spots. Bali is a close second with all of the international designers that sell their lines there.
Who is your biggest style icon?
I don’t have a specific icon, but I do love vintage and beach boho. I have not been influenced specifically by a person. I’d say my style has been inspired by beach cultures from around the world.
What’s your personal stance on piercings and tattoos? Do you have any? Why or why not?
I feel that they are a unique outlet for people to express themselves and their style. I don’t have piercings other than my ears. I’m open to them. I don’t have any tattoos because my mom would kill me! I’ve thought about getting a nose piercing. Maybe when I’m feeling impulsive and adventurous. If I do get a tattoo though, I need to find something sentimental enough to have a it on my skin forever!
On a scale of prude to nudist beach enthusiast, where do you stand?
I like the idea of surfing naked. I would say I’m in the middle of the scale and a little closer to a nudist beach stance. I like the idea of that kind of freedom. Hopefully, the beach might be full of hotties.
Do you believe in ghosts?
Yes, 100 %. That world definitely exists. I don’t have a first hand experience seeing one, but I have felt their presence. It chilled my goosebumps for sure.
What’s the best song to make out to?
“Glory Box” by Portishead or “Never Be Like You” by Flume featuring Kai.
What projects are you working on at the moment?
Currently, I am focusing on competing professionally for surfing and traveling to some exotic spots. I’m also working with some really fun, cool brands that I cannot disclose yet.
