Fashion gal Olivia Culpo is Veronica Lodge’s modern day style twin
The Archie comics have some pretty iconic women in them, and “Riverdale” has only upped the anti on these characters. From Betty to Veronica to Cheryl, these ladies slay so hard in life, and of course, style.
In honor of “Riverdale” returning tonight on the CW, I decided to look through my old collection of “Archie Comics” to reminisce about how much I loved, and looked up to, these leading ladies.
The ultimate queen of shopping, slaying and stealing your man: growing up, I was definitely #TeamBetty all day, everyday. It was hard not to fall for her good girl charm and tom-boy/down to earth vibe. I even related to her book smarts and passion for philanthropy and writing.
Still, I could never resist Veronica’s glitz and glam. Despite all of her vain and regular mean-girl antics (like giving Betty an allergic reaction so she could steal her job *yikes*), Veronica embodied my idea of a strong woman.
She knew her worth:
She knew who she was:
And she had a mean closet to support her innate confidence:

Whenever I go through my (very dense) “Archie Comics” collection, which includes many Betty and Veronica digests, I always go straight to the best section – its fashion pages. Occasionally, the comics would even publish style concepts from their readers:
It’s rare to see a cartoon so dedicated to diversifying its characters’ looks. Both Veronica and Betty had versatile style profiles that could fit any era or season:
But in my humble opinion, Veronica took the cake when it came to styling and profiling, and was always my go-to reference for it-girl fashion:

So, who is Veronica Lodge’s modern day style twin? Meet Olivia Culpo:
Not only does the American actress match Lodge’s brunette locks, she also seems to share her fashion sensibility.
Culpo’s closet includes fashion’s favorite legacy brands including MSGM, Balenciaga, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Dior as well as a few trendy newcomers like Vetements, Monse, Carmen March and Ulyana Sergeenko. Like any true fashionista, and much like Veronica Lodge, Culpo does not shy away from taking risks:

And despite her affinity for modern twists on neutral colors, Culpo will also throw in a bold throwback look very much a-la-Lodge:
The two also really enjoy traveling to France:
I think we can all take a page out of “Archie Comics'” book, and Olivia Culpo, for major seasonal style goals. I’m obsessed with both of these gals’ fashion sense, and I’m excited to see what the return of “Riverdale” has to offer up for more Veronica Lodge slayage.
