NYC meets the freshest indie design stars at Fashun Tweek
FASHUN TWEEK is New York’s unofficial platform for the freshest designers. It’s third season brought out designers Olivia O’Blanc, Slashed By Tia, Mancandy, Queenie Cao, Heidi Lee, Yarden Roee and Whatever Twentyone. It also included a sick presentation by Homies Wonderland held in a theater. With DJ/Host Zuri Marley and sets by Slay Rizz, Margie Plus and Brooke Candy, FASHUN TWEEK turned out to be one of the best shows of the season.

The runway was surrounded by the salon stations at Arrojo Studios in Tribeca allowing the audience to see from all angles. The format of the show is cutting edge as the entire event culminated in an inclusive celebration of the fashion, music and culture that FASHUN TWEEK founder Phil Gomez curated.
Gomez created FASHUN TWEEK out of desperation, saying, “I felt runway shows and fashion week had become more mundane and inconvenient rather than inspiring. Living in Bushwick, a forefront in underground fashion, I realized that many brands creating new fashions didn’t have the platform to showcase their pieces. It was because either they didn’t fit ‘typical’ fashion standards or just didn’t have the resources to produce a showcase.”

FASHUN TWEEK is shaping up to be the most successful platform for underground designers to showcase their work during fashion week. Gomez plans on taking the show global, connecting the world’s up and coming designers to their audiences. Check out this video recap and some photos from the event below.
