A New Study Says Blonde Girls Are Smarter Than The Rest Of Us
“Dumb blonde” is officially a term of the past. Scientists have concluded that blonde women may actually be smarter than their counterparts with red, black, and brown hair.
Research from the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth 1979 shows that blondes score higher on IQ tests than redheads and brunettes. The scientists tested 10,878 women, and only sampled from Caucasian women, in order to bypass any bias in comparing between ethnicities or races.
The test, which scores based on vocabulary, paragraph comprehension, and simple math questions, found that blonde women had an average IQ of 103.2, while brunettes had an IQ averaging at 102.7. Redheads scored at 101.2, and women with black hair averaged at 100.5.
Why would this be the case?
Ohio University’s Jay Zagorsky explained his study, maintaining that genetics probably don’t account for intelligence that specifically. But they did learn that blondes often grew up in homes that championed reading more than any other group, which is a pretty solid way of getting smarter.
So basically, yes, blondes get to have more fun, and they’re smarter too.
