Meet Jorge Patiño and Juanpa Gordoa a duo who choreographs fashion, music, and  affection with the precision of a couture atelier and the spontaneity of Gen Z cool . They are building a legacy that  threads through every cut, color, and conversation, turning this  Pride issue  into a living, breathing look-book where authenticity is the sharpest accessory. From Paris to Milan, their shared voice—equal parts memory, rebellion, and refined restraint—redefines what it means to love and live authentically.
FEATURE INTERVIEW:
How has your Latinx heritage shaped your approach to fashion and self-expression within the Pride spectrum?
We believe everything around us influences who we are, even if we don’t always realize it. The colors, the architecture, and the culture we grow up with naturally become part of how we express ourselves. For us, Pride is about having the freedom to be authentic, to dress however we want, and never feeling like we have to fit into someone else’s expectations.
Can you recall the moment when you fell in love with fashion?
There wasn’t one specific moment. It happened gradually. The more we learned about everything behind a garment—the design, the history, and the intention—the more we fell in love with fashion. Understanding it on a deeper level completely changed the way we saw clothing.
Pride fashion often dances between visibility and subversion. How would you guys describe your love language for each other?
We think love and fashion have a lot in common—there’s no single right way to express either of them. Everyone has their own way of loving and feeling loved, and over time we’ve learned what makes the other person feel cared for. Fashion works the same way: the better you know yourself, the more authentic your style becomes.
Are there symbols or colors that carry personal meaning beyond their aesthetic when you are choosing your fashion aesthetic?
More than colors or symbols, it’s all about silhouettes for us. We have very different tastes and almost never borrow each other’s clothes because we each feel comfortable in different cuts and proportions. The way you choose to dress reflects everything that inspires you—your favorite music, the films you love, and the way you see the world.
Collaboration and community are vital in fashion. Who are your style icons and influences that help define your style philosophy, and why?
Our influences are very different, which reflects our personalities. For Jorge, Yves Saint Laurent has always been a major inspiration because of the way he turned his way of living into fashion, and Willem Dafoe for his effortless elegance. Childhood memories also play a huge role in shaping his creative vision. For Juan, Jack Donoghue is a constant source of inspiration because of the authenticity he brings to both music and style. At the end of the day, we both believe the best inspiration is finding your own voice rather than trying to look like someone else.
How does your love for each other disrupt the norms of the average relationship?
Before anything else, we’re best friends, and that’s what has always made our relationship feel so natural. We’ve never tried to fit into an idea of what a relationship is supposed to look like. As two men, we’ve never let ourselves be defined by roles or expectations—we’ve simply built a relationship that works for us, based on freedom and mutual respect.
Talk to us about how you met and how you knew that you guys were meant to be.
We met during a brand trip to Acapulco. Long before we thought about dating, we realized we had a very special connection. One night we spent hours lying under the stars laughing until we couldn’t breathe. That’s when we realized that, above everything else, we were best friends.
Where was the first date and what made that date so special?
Since we were best friends before becoming a couple, we never really had a traditional first date. What we do remember is the first time we went out without hiding our relationship. We had dinner at an Italian restaurant, and being able to hold hands freely without fear made that night incredibly meaningful for both of us.
You guys just attend Paris and Milan fashion week what shows were your favorite and what 2027 trends are you most excited for?
Our favorite shows were Prada, Dior, Dries Van Noten, and Saint Laurent. Each one had a completely different vision, but they all left us incredibly inspired. As for trends, we’re excited to see silhouettes moving away from oversized fits and a stronger return to color.
Do you have a go-to skin care ritual and any products you both swear by that centers your sense of self?
Even though we have very different skin types, there are a few products we both trust, like La Roche-Posay, Garnier, and Dior Beauty. More than a shared routine, skincare is a personal moment that helps each of us start the day feeling refreshed and end it feeling calm.
Let’s talk music, Juanpa talk to us about your latest single and what we can expect next?
I’m really excited about the music I’ve been working on this year. I recently released OTRO LOSER and TU SANCHO, two songs that introduce the sound I’m exploring in this new chapter. There are more singles and music videos coming before the end of the year, leading up to my next EP, which will be released toward the end of 2026. I can’t wait for people to hear everything we’ve been working on.
Now let’s talk your fashion label, Jorge El Coro what is the manifest of the brand and what inspired your latest collection, and what is next for the brand?
El Coro was born from the idea that not everything has to demand attention to feel special. I’m much more interested in the details, in a sense of calm, and in creating garments that feel as though they could belong to another era. A lot of that inspiration comes from my childhood and the memories I continue to reinterpret through the brand.
The latest collection was inspired by one of my favorite childhood films, which sparked my fascination with medieval aesthetics and led me to reinterpret those references into pieces designed for everyday wear. Looking ahead, I simply want to continue growing the brand at its own pace, building a universe of its own and connecting with people who genuinely identify with it.
Pride seasons come and go, but identity is ongoing. How do you sustain a personal style that remains meaningful year-round?
We believe personal style starts from within. The most important thing is wearing what genuinely feels like you, rather than dressing for trends or expectations. Fashion evolves, and so do we, but as long as those changes come from a place of authenticity instead of pressure, your style will always feel true to who you are.
What everyday staples should we buy from El Coro?
The El Coro shorts have become one of the brand’s signature pieces. They’ve appeared in every collection because they represent everything we love: comfort, timeless proportions, and subtle references to classic school uniforms. They’re effortless to wear and, for us, they’re an everyday essential.
How do you balance trend-driven moments with responsible choices in your wardrobe?
For us, it starts with being honest about what we truly like. Before buying something, it’s worth asking yourself whether you’ll actually wear it or if you’re simply caught up in the moment. Having a strong personal style naturally keeps you from chasing every trend. And if a trend genuinely resonates with you, there’s nothing wrong with embracing it. The important thing is that your wardrobe reflects who you are—not just what’s popular.
What other Latinx-owned or LGBTQ+-focused brands, are you currently obsessed with?
We’re excited to see more Latin brands building strong and distinctive identities. Right now we’re especially inspired by Boyfriend’s Shirt, Barragán, and Luar. Each one has its own unique point of view and shows just how diverse Latin design can be. We always gravitate toward brands that create an authentic universe instead of simply following trends.
Language in fashion is powerful. Which designers, runways, or campaigns have spoken to you in a way that felt like a political or emotional statement?
We always come back to Yves Saint Laurent because of the way he turned his life into an extension of his work. We also admire Jonathan Anderson for constantly challenging silhouettes and proving that fashion can always evolve. As for runway shows, Maison Margiela
Artisanal Spring 2024 by John Galliano deeply moved us because it felt more like a film or a theatrical performance than a fashion show. We also loved Gucci Love Parade in Hollywood, where Alessandro Michele transformed an entire city into a runway, celebrating fashion, cinema, and culture all at once. When it comes to campaigns, Loewe consistently inspires us with imagery that feels timeless while maintaining such a strong and unmistakable identity.
How do you translate your own personal style and do you guys style each other ever?
We’re always asking each other for opinions before going out or putting together a look, but we never try to dress each other like ourselves. Juan’s style is much more relaxed, with oversized silhouettes and a strong streetwear influence. Jorge’s style leans toward classic tailoring, slimmer proportions, thoughtful accessories, and references to another era. We think those differences are exactly what allow us to inspire each other while still maintaining our own identities.
What is your signature scent at the moment and why do you love it?
Right now, Jorge’s signature scent is Prada Paradigme, while Juan’s is MYSLF by YSL. They’re very different fragrances, but each one reflects our personalities perfectly. We love scents that become part of your identity and the way people remember you.
Living and growing up in CDMX , is there any other place that feels most like home outside of Mexico?
We don’t think anywhere truly feels like a second home. Mexico will always be home for us. That said, there are places we’ll always love returning to because of the memories we’ve made there—Paris and Milan during Fashion Week, Los Angeles, and Mallorca, where we spent an unforgettable summer with our friends. Every place has left something with us, but none of them replace what Mexico means to us.
What advice would you give your younger self when coming out?
We would tell our younger selves not to be afraid. The things that truly matter won’t change, and the people who genuinely love you will still be there. Most importantly, we’d remind ourselves to make decisions from a place of love rather than fear. Staying true to yourself is always worth it.
What song do you both have on repeat?
Right now, Jorge can’t stop listening to “wink wink” by Charli xcx, while Juan has “MÍA” by Víctor Mendívil and Gabito Ballesteros on repeat. Our music tastes are pretty different, but we’re constantly sharing new songs with each other, so our playlists are always evolving.
