MULTI-INSTRUMENTALIST ZACH TABORI TALKS ABOUT HIS NEW EP “KILL ME, SADBOI”
Does your favorite artist play multiple instruments like Zach Tabori? I didn’t think so! Not only does Zach play the drums, guitar and bass – he also writes and composes his own music. His newest project, “Kill Me, Sadboi” features 4 indie bedroom pop songs including the lead single “Mom and Dad”. We sat down with the multi-faceted artist to learn about his musical journey and his plans for 2024.
FEATURE INTERVIEW:
TELL US ABOUT YOUR MUSICAL JOURNEY
Well, I’m pretty sure I was hearing melodies before I even knew how to speak. Ever since I can remember, I have been writing songs.
WHO ARE YOUR MUSICAL HEROES?
Everybody from the Beatles to Beethoven and anything in between!

HOW DID THE ZAPPA COVER COME ABOUT:
I’ve always admired Frank Zappa’s “We’re Only in It for the Money” album. Upon listening to it recently, I noticed that the lyrical themes of the song “Mom & Dad,” seemed to still deeply resonate with the times. I thought it would be interesting to reimagine the song as if it were written as a bedroom pop tune by a 17-year-old angsty Frank Zappa in the year 2024, just as a fun experiment.
WHAT INSPIRATION BEHIND THE NEW EP?
It’s a particular subgenre that I haven’t been able to really understand ever since it became popular. I listen to a lot of dense and FAST music, whereas the ethos of SADBOI seems to be ugly crying with a PBR by the pool (not something I do very often… ha-ha). I guess I wanted to try something new, since most of my albums lean more toward the heavier side.

WHAT SONG GROWING UP INSPIRED YOU TO GET INTO MUSIC?
Smooth by Carlos Santana featuring Rob Thomas. The minute Carlos started shredding right after the chorus, I knew it was what I wanted to do.
HOW ARE YOU DISRUPTING THE MUSIC SCENE AS A MULTI-HYPHENATE ARTIST?
Each hyphen is an act of disruption. By the time I die, I plan to have at least 98 more hyphens included in my genre of music, thus creating a NEW genre of maximalist sound that has yet to be discovered. Brace for impact. 🙂

WHAT IS ONE TREND YOU LOVE AT THE MOMENT?
Turning your phone on “do not disturb” for the entire day.
WHAT YOUR SKINCARE ROUTINE?
Wait until I wreak of garlic and my girlfriend forces me to shower. It’s also important to rinse off after shows or the sweat residue could result in the growth of a new fungal colony right above my left thigh!
WHAT LYRIC FROM THE NEW EP HITS HARDEST FOR YOU?
“All your friends said you need a rehab, so you found some new ones who didn’t care.” From “Try So Hard.”
WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU?
I’m going on a US tour with Dweezil Zappa, and I plan to release more than a handful of projects this year!
