FYI: Milk Is Really Good For Your Skin And Hair

You may have had milk on the mind lately, thanks to Fergie’s crazy ass M.I.L.F $ video, but now there’s another reason to be grateful for the calcium-filled beverage.

Milk apparently has a number of beauty benefits, and can be really good for your hair and skin.

“Whole milk can be used as a straightener, and you can add some honey, strawberries and banana for a nice smell and extra nourishment,” Hairstylist Danny Jelaca told Allure. “You can either saturate the hair with the concoction or use a spray bottle. Continually comb your hair or keep pulling it; the idea is to pull any curl for 20 to 30 minutes. Rinse, shampoo, then condition. Let air-dry for a surprisingly straight look.”

Milk is also a skin softener, apparently, so add a milk bath into your weekly beauty regimen. And if you’re not into using dairy — as it does have inflammatory properties for some people with sensitive skin — then coconut milk is also a great option.

You can use coconut milk as a makeup remover, acne preventative, and even an exfoliating mask. For that, “all you need to do is soak oats in coconut milk for 10 minutes,” Dr. Rahul told Food.TV. Sounds great!

It’s been said that Cleopatra used to take baths in donkey milk — if it’s good enough for her, it’s good enough for me.
