Michele Maturo and Hanna Beth slay in unique pieces by Image Du Image

This week, Michele and Hanna Beth got together and interviewed the creative director of Image Du Image, Abdul Rahman, a.k.a. Hollywood’s go-to guy for one-of-a-kind statement pieces.

Michele and Hanna both agree there’s NOTHING better than going out and knowing you’re wearing a piece that is completely authentic and no one else will be wearing. Not to mention, it can be an inexpensive way to rock totally cool and unique pieces, and get creative and crafty with some DYI. These pieces could be worn to a day time BBQ and still turn heads on a night out.

The girls met with the incredibly talented and eccentric designer behind IMAGE DU IMAGE to pick his brain and find out exactly why he started in fashion, his inspirations, struggles, AND which celebrity wore one of his first pieces. Make sure to peep the hot af photo shoot at the end of the interview, too!

What made you want to get into fashion?

I have interest and love in this career since I was child. I used to travel and check every brand and style my own looks! Fashion is my life and I like to step outside of the comfort zone.

Why did you decide to do one-of-a-kind pieces?

To make each woman different and special hoping each piece will reflect her personality.

What inspires you?

Every single beautiful thing in this world! Traveling to different places to observe, motivate the inner creativity in me, and become more energetic and new ideas will pop up in my mind.

You have designed tons of unique pieces over time — do you have a favorite?

Every piece has something special and favorite to me. Every piece is a story, even the simple ones. My favorite pieces are the one that are made of silk and crystals. I love also the custom made painted pieces because I love art.

Is there a moment in your fashion career that really stood out for you?

Moments… good and bad… positive and negative. Being in this industry is hard people think it’s easy. You can make the most beautiful dress, but it won’t see the light if you don’t have a strong contact. So starting by myself and alone was hard. But thankful for the support from people like my good friend Hanna Beth and also the amazing Olivia Culpo (who wore the first duster robe I did in turquoise) I now see a lot are wearing IMAGE DU IMAGE. I’m excited!

What’s next for image du image?

Designing unique and detailed pieces that increase beauty and strength of women. I will design more items with crystals, rhinestones, and pearls. It will show the beauty and femininity in a unique way. I plan to continue to focus more and more until I feel that I have reached that satisfaction.

Do you have a style icon?

No, honestly. Now so many people all wear nice and stylish clothes! I feel that a lot of stylists have it much easier now with all of the accessibility. But they are still needed because it’s still so tough for entertainers to find the time to dress themselves with their schedules!

What advice can you give to someone who is wanting to have their own brand?

Create a brand that is unique, special, and classy! Don’t give up, and work hard to achieve your dream even if you face difficulties.

Which celebrity would you love to see wear your designs?

I wish to see all of them wearing IMAGE DU IMAGE such as Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Zendaya, Kim Kardashian, Gigi & Bella Hadid! In fact, I really love them all so I can name all day [and] all night!
