MEGA’s “I Am Enough” Shapes a Cohesive Record Through Identity
MEGA’s new EP, I Am Enough, is carefully composed. Across five songs, each distinct yet interconnected, the record builds a clear arc without relying on drama or excess. The title is a statement that holds throughout the record, repeated until it feels fully inhabited. The British-Ugandan artist, who began singing in choirs before her breakout debut, “Chariot”—now surpassing 50 million streams—leads with a voice steady and unforced, carried by grounded arrangements.

“Change” begins with a gentle acoustic hook and layered vocals hinting at motion without haste. It resets the atmosphere, opening space for what’s to come. The title track expands on that foundation with sparse percussion and measured melody. The phrase “I am enough” is offered plainly, without flourish, landing with quiet certainty, a mantra that echoes MEGA’s personal journey toward self-worth and empowerment after facing toxic spaces in the industry.
“My Bones” shifts the energy. The instrumentation widens—guitar, djembe, brass—yet the structure remains taut. Co-written with Joe Cleere and Grammy-winning producer Jonathan Quarmby, MEGA’s delivery is with restraint, letting rhythm and tone speak. The accompanying video, directed by Frank Mugerwa, adds context without distraction. It’s celebratory, grounded in clarity rather than spectacle.

“Roots” slows the pace. It explores belonging without nostalgia. Elongated melodies and intimate lyrics to reflect on home as both a place and a choice. The final track, “Fail As Me,” brings the EP to an end with emotional precision. The structure stays simple, the message intact, and the tone consistent with what came before.
Throughout the record, MEGA’s voice remains the anchor. It’s strong without being showy, and its patience gives the songs room to breathe. The production is clean, the instrumentation deliberate, and the pacing precise. Nothing feels ornamental; every element is intentional.
On stage, MEGA creates something communal. Her shows become shared spaces shaped by experience and presence. She has sold out venues in London, Paris, Amsterdam, and Berlin and appeared at Reading, Leeds, Montreux Jazz, and other major festivals. She has also toured with Cat Burns, Hozier, and Self Esteem. That same ease carries into the EP, which radiates confidence without ever declaring it.
