Magdalene Drops a Biting Satire on American Wealth and Excess in “Sexual Relations with a Wall Street Banker”

Magdalene is leaning heavily into the absurdities of U.S. exceptionalism with her latest release, “Sexual Relations with a Wall Street Banker,” a sharp pop-rock anthem that turns the concepts of wealth, privilege, and unchecked power into a darkly comic spectacle that is permanently embedded in the cultural logic of the United States.

The self-proclaimed pop star for the freaks pairs the track with a provocative new music video, continuing a streak of boundary-pushing releases that stalk the intersection of heavy satire and performance art like some anarchic highwayman.

Slush Puppy handled production on the track, which was also co-written with him and Ava Morse. It sits within the evolving sonic language of Magdalene’s debut project, further shaping its punk-tinged direction.

Magdalene describes the project as a direct, comedic finger-pointing at the ugliness hidden beneath the surface of the billionaire class, specifically targeting high-profile figures who evade institutional accountability.

The track leans into theatricality, treating the relentless pursuit of status and money as its own bizarre form of public performance.

The visual, co-creative directed by Magdalene and Kevin Zambrano, pushes that commentary into surreal territory. The video features animal-masked executives, chaotic late-night bacchanalia, jail cells, and heavy political caricatures, blurring the lines between societal fantasy and reality, inviting us to question the cognitive dissonance behind the whole spectacle and what even moves it.

As Magdalene keeps rolling out new tracks ahead of her debut album later this year, “Sexual Relations with a Wall Street Banker” makes a strong case for her status as one of the most intelligent, disruptive voices currently shaking up the pop-rock scene.
