Puerto Rico, a musical powerhouse, has once again birthed a star. Lunay, a rising luminary, is captivating the global music scene with his unique blend of reggaeton and contemporary urban sounds.

In this exclusive interview, we delve into the mind of this talented artist, exploring his journey, inspirations, and future aspirations. From his early days to his meteoric rise, Lunay’s story is a testament to his passion, hard work, and unwavering commitment to his craft.

FEATURE INTERVIEW:

Talk to us about your passion for music and how it all started.
My passion for music comes from my roots in the church where I always had an example of a
father who was a drummer and a mother who sang since I can remember. So I inherited it with a lot
of passion and really loving music since I was born.

What does it feel like to be a young Puerto Rican who has achieved international success and what does it mean to you being Latino?
For me, it feels more than an achievement to be recognized worldwide at 24 years old, since it is a
work that comes from a long time ago and not from now. I did many sacrifices, many twists and
turns and setbacks that we overcame to be able to have the victory.

Who were your musical references when you were a kid and who are today?
Since I was little my musical references were always Daddy Yankee and Nicky Jam, which I had
the great fortune of earning the respect of both legends and having collaborations with these pillars
of the movement. Today I am my own reference that motivates me the most every day to continue perfecting and breaking with my energy and my art.

How do you see the future of reggaeton? And how would you like to contribute to that?
I see the future of reggaeton even bigger than it is today. There are many countries taking on the task of doing what really adds to the genre and not just urban! Collaboration is the key. I see myself collaborating with artists who feel that we have a commitment to the culture of not letting go of the flow, the metrics, the rhymes and the vibe of what is the original urban genre of Puerto Rico, my home.

In your opinion, what has been a defining turning point in your career?
A turning point in my career has been the success of “Single” which changed my life in a 360 way from heaven to earth.

With which Non-Latin artist would you like to do a feature with?
I would like to have a collaboration with Lil Baby, Drake and Cardi B. I feel that I have many more
but so far they are my focus, to be able to combine vibes and break into the Latin and Non-Latin genres. Also Central Cee, among a few others.

Your love for the gym, caring for your body and your appearance are well known to everyone. What are your tips to stay that way?
My advice to keep building your best version is to dedicate the time that you have never dedicated, putting the time for others on high and focusing it 300% on yourself early on. From when you get out of bed you declare and work on the hard energy that you are going to have throughout the week, this is how I wear it.

What defines your style and how do you apply that to your work?

I define my style with too much energy, sensual for women but also taking into account that there
are all kinds of flavors and styles to bring to the game. I apply it every day in the studio, in my way
of being, clothing, body language, and the “Piquete” (the flow).

What song are you obsessed with right now?
In this moment I’m obsessed with “La fiesta de Pilito
2024 is ending soon, what awaits you in 2025?
In 2025….I don’t wanna tell you too much cause I wanna surprise you, I am going to bring you a memory from 2019, and I leave you with that. A new beginning, music, magazines, movies, and of course, I LOVE ALL OF YOU.
