Use This Spray to Wash Your Face Post-Workout Instead of Showering

Listen, we all know we’re supposed to shower after a workout. No one is debating that.

But there are a lot of reasons why the whole shower thing doesn’t pan out. Sometimes there’s just no time. Sometimes your brows miraculously stay fleeky during a workout and you don’t want to risk disrupting them with water. And sometimes you just need to go straight from yoga to day drinking, dammit. And if the athleisure trend allows you to stay in leggings all day, why can’t you also skip bathing?

None of us are proud of skipping the post-workout shower, but facts are facts. A new beauty brand called Lumion has a solution to this conundrum, though, in the form of a skin mist that cleans your face and keeps your makeup intact. Because some of us like to keep mascara on while we bench press, sorry!

Skin mists have been popping up all over the place over the past few months. Glossier makes one with rosewater, Urban Decay makes one with coconut that smells soothingly like fake tanner.

Lumion has makeup-setting properties just like Urban Decay’s sprays, and it also has electrolytes and compounds to allegedly mimic the actions of your bod’s immune system. That’s how it cleans your skin, the creators say.

Here’s how they describe it:

Lumion, proprietary electrolyzed oxygenation process activates and intensifies the water, Dead Sea salts and oxygen naturally. Together these essential elements create hypochlorous acid (HOCL), an endogenous acid found in the body’s immune system. Hypochlorous acid (basically a Purell for the skin) is an infection fighting compound found naturally in the human body, is known to reverse markers of epidermal aging, protect against environmental aggressors, fight bacteria and cleanse the skin.

Whether any of this stuff is actually cleaning your face could be up for debate. But I’ve been using Lumion as a pick-me-up throughout the day to keep the mean streets of Brooklyn from ravaging my face, and it’s definitely refreshing. It also doesn’t mess up my makeup at all. It’s a win-win.

So if you’re borderline grody and have no time to shower post-workout, maybe give this a shot! It can’t be worse than letting your post-workout skin marinate all day without any cleaners whatsoever, right?
