How Laguna Beach Star Turned Porn Actress Tasha Reign Stays in Shape

Tasha Reign is a porn star — a sex worker who wears that title proudly. In her weekly column, she’s here to educate Galore readers on the topics that most people are too shy to broach. This week: how she maintains her camera-ready bod.

When it comes to the “best body” in my industry, I am not disillusioned.

I don’t believe that I’m the fittest, hottest, skinniest, or best. I truly admire women like Joanna Angel, Jessica Drake, Riley Steele, Asa Akira, and so many others, for their in-shape physiques. But they’re not perfect and neither am I — no one is and no one needs to strive for physical perfection. You’ll drive yourself nuts if you do.

Having said that, I’m constantly asked by men and women about how I stay in such great shape, especially if they’re fans. If you follow me on social media, you’ll see how much I love to eat heavy carbs and drink lots of champagne very quickly. My favorite restaurants include but are not limited to In’n’Out, Chipotle pre-E. coli, Umami Burger, and any restaurants that cater to my french fry and grilled cheese addiction.

I also have to say I was born with a quick metabolism and I’ve been a vegetarian for 10 years, so the odds are in my favor. The adult industry is one of the few entertainment genres where there is a demand and market for almost all types of beauty, from BBW, or big beautiful women, to every race (portrayed tastefully and not so tastefully), to any strange fetish you can think up. That doesn’t mean that there isn’t body-shaming or racism, but what’s popular and in-demand is only met by the supplier, not necessarily dictated by them.

So while porn isn’t as aesthetically demanding as, say, the fashion industry, I still care a lot about my health, my fitness, my looks and I am consciously aware of that, because it’s literally how I make a living. Below I’ve listed my top favorite things I do to work out, feel good and maintain my figure.

Yoga:  I have been doing yoga the majority of my life. I love meditating (or at least the idea of meditating), I have tried many studios from small intimate settings to larger classrooms. I regularly attend the multitude of yoga classes offered at Equinox gym, and it’s fabulous for toning and building flexibility within your body. But my favorite part about yoga is that it’s low in the cardio department. I am not into running and I prefer fun positions and leisure, duh. The downside is that you need to switch this up with cardio if you’re trying to lose to weight.

Equinox:  I joined this chain of gyms about 10 months ago, and I actually love the club and it’s by far one of the nicest gym chains around. It is pricey and a little exclusive, depending on where you join, but for me, it’s totally worth it. I am there three to five times a week after all, so I’d better love my surroundings. This gym even offers lemon-scented iced towels, a steam room, a sauna, and massage therapy. Gym life can be challenging, they’re often dirty, the men can be tools, and the equipment can be confusing, but the key is to find one you mesh with and try to get a routine down and I’ve found that in Equinox.

Cardio Barre:  Yes please, I fucking love this class. I know there are a few different variations of the barre workout, but Cardio Barre is my fave. It’s amazing, they have franchises all over the U.S. and I happen to live right next door to the studio where the founder Richard Giorla personally teaches.  Fun stuff. It’s a mix between ballet, hip hop, Pilates and cardio. It’s almost too much fun to even feel like a workout.

Pilates: This is for people who are more serious about working out. I love how it elongates your body, tones you, and really works everything out. It builds more muscle than you can imagine, and in all the flattering places: butt, arms, legs and tummy. If you’re privileged enough to get private sessions on the machine, then it’s heavenly. I prefer classes like “ballet body” which incorporate this type of exercise but allow for some leeway as it’s extremely challenging and demands a lot of focus and strength.

Hiking:  L.A. is riddled with social hiking spots that are puppy-friendly and just plain stunning. Right now, I do Fryman Canyon, and enjoy meeting new people as I get my workout on. It’s probably the only form of straight cardio I can do without feeling as though I am working out. Grabbing a hiking buddy is even better. You can chit chat and catch up, all while burning mega calories.

Juicing: I was turned on to Pressed Juicery, a type of juice cleansing system. It doesn’t taste great, but boy is it a quick fix to the pot belly you obtained during Spring Break. Difficult to stick to unless determined, and also pricey, it actually works. I go three days sometimes, straight juicing. Each bottle contains more vegetables and fruit than you’re capable of eating on your own, so you’re still getting plenty of nutrition! You also are very tired and a little loopy throughout this experience, though, so beware.

Water:  The more I drink, the better I look. Skin, weight — everything is correlated with this. But I still let myself get dehydrated sometimes! Why? It’s annoying to remember to do throughout the day, but it makes a huge difference.

Giving in sometimes:  Sunday Funday is real for me.  Lounging around is a must, and I don’t want to work out necessarily, so if you decide to take up any of these methods, make sure you take days off for yourself and don’t overwork your body, Also, once you get yourself in shape, eating bad foods is less appealing, but if you do want to indulge in high calorie foods, you will feel as though you deserve it, which is really rewarding!  Email me any questions at: tashareign1@gmail.com
